It's a hopeful thought, but we're not talking about a swimming pool of oil here. Latest "rational" estimates are around 60,000 barrels of oil and gas per day. It's been nearly a month and it will be several more at this rate or higher it appears. The oil is both under and on top of the ocean. I don't think there's enough hay on the planet to sponge up the gulf.

I imagine the spill is already many times bigger than the Alaska spill. There is no assurance that the relief well can be completed in 3 months, especially, if bad weather comes. It is likely that more than one relief well will be required and we can only hope that they will work.

I still say the nuke is the best option. But it's not as if they want a quick and effective clean up to happen. They much prefer the slow and stupid approach. More money can be made that way.
