Here is my little study.
The question is: to what degree state's populations are "awake"?
( This is just for fun. No claims to be any accurate. :) )
States are ranked by two parameters: interest of its population towards precious metals (1) and interest towards preps (2).
Year 2005. Precious Metals
1. Colorado
2. Texas
3. Florida
4. Ohio
2005. Preparedness
1. Washington
2. Nevada
3. Michigan
4. Oregon

AND THE WINNERS ARE: ;D
1. Utah
2. Colorado
3. Oklahoma
4. Washington
Followed by
5. Nevada

Note that I did not weight the "interest level" across state's population
Had I done that the small population states would have scored better.
Absence of heavyweights like New York or California is amazing.

Thanks G2Rad for your thoughtful research. I wonder what it is about these states that makes the residents more . . . independent thinking?
Before reading your data, my guess was Texas.

That's about it, because there's an actual housing shortage in ND for all the oil workers that are there.

I would say the state with the least amount of people, the least amount of liberals, and more importantly the least amount of khazars and muds.

I wouldn't say any particular state is best prepared. It would have to be a sub-state region or regions.
The best prepared region(s) will have:
1) adequate fresh water supplies
2) adequate agricultural production
3) adequate, independent energy supplies and/or production (oil, gas, and/or hydro)
4) significant population of decent, intelligent folk
5) limited population of parasites and animals masquerading as "humans"
6) adequate supply of citizen-owned firearms and ammunition

This list describes my rural community to a T: 99% white Christian 90+% hunters and gun owners, heavily blue collar (people who have real skills like servicing a machine or cutting down a tree, etc.). The only negative is that we are only 40 miles north of a major metropolitan area rich in eggplants and tamales.

Q. Which state is best prepared for the collapse?
A. "The State of your Mind"
What did I win?

There is no one particular republic that is any better off than the rest, there are only pockets of safety and sanity nested in various places within each. If you're in a metropolitan setting anywhere you're in a world of shit if TSHTF.

In Montana everyone hunts. Even hippies in dreadlocks and liberals in earrings can be found armed and wearing camo during elk season.

Eastern Washington State Columbia Basin. The Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers converge and provide copious fresh water, approximately 1,700,000 acres of irrigated farm land. Another 5,300,000 acres of dry land wheat and ranching, extensive hydro power on the Columbia and Snake Rivers, large wind power complexes installed. River barging transportation on the Columbia and Snake rivers. Approximately 200 miles from the Portland-Seattle population corridor. The existing population that operates the farming and energy production is well versed in firearms.

No comprende. In Texas preparedness = masa and canned refried beans. You don't want to caught there WTSHTF.

I read in an article recently that the Dakotas and Nebraska have the lowest unemployment levels. The population numbers are low and the majority of the people there are involved in producing food.
Quixote2
22nd May 2010, 11:28 PM
There are reasons the population is low in the Dakotas. Gross revenue farming with short growing season and marginal rainfall is low, remaining jobs are generally low pay. The winters are "memorable". Most people born and growing up there look for better locations. (I left South Dakota and the -25 winters doing farm chores, never had any urge to return.)

I remember a song that says something like "No where to run, no where to hide".
I have family, friends, and neighbors right where I'm at ready for some action.
I just have to make sure I don't let them know I have any stocks is all.
That will go for anywhere I live. Know what I'm sayin?

North Dakota is the best, with the nations only state owned bank, and it continues to show growth and strong stability through the financial meltdown
ellen Brown has had a number of articles on this

Only one of your states has access to the sea.
Not sure you thought this out thoroughly.
If Arizona had a coast, I would rank it above most of your 'picks'. I kind of do anyway.

Yikes! It needs a coast so that one could easily escape WTSHTF.

GD, i have lived in both id and wyo and have spent alot of time in montana and believe me, they as a whole KNOW the score.
i notice that very few Jewish people are getting laid off. although my town is less than 10% Jewish, city & county & college faculty = 50%+ Jewish.
VERRRRY racist.
what i would like to see is Affirmative Action that takes Ethnicity into account.
so that way the nepotism demonstrated by the local Jews in their hiring can come to light.
i know the city, county, and college have file cabinets (or folders on the computers in their HR department) FULL of applications from qualified non-Jewish white applicants.
so that if AA was extended to include ethnicity, they would have to fire 40% of their staff and replace them with non-Jewish Caucasian employees.
i wonder what states have the best chances of passing this kind of Affirmative Action Law - a law that prohibits favoritism in hiring, including ethnicity & religion.
