Had to be CGI, which was the impression I got in the first 5 seconds.
In real life, there's no way that cougar would have gotten away alive - the mama bear would have been so enraged she not have hesitated in killing it.

that's Internet Movie Database for L'Ours. doesn't list the technical directors or visual effects people though.
but that's definitely CG, in the sense of video segments cleverly spliced together, with a little 3D animation for some frames. most of it is real animals, spliced together using clever compositing.
some of the frames are all 3D animation. normally wild animals aren't quite so cooperative at following the directions of Hollywood directors. they match the 3D models to the photography, then also the cameras.
some of the websites i like that explain all these visual effects techniques, "how it was done" sorts of articles -

That is chlorine in the gene pool shit right there.
Anybody who dicks around with large cats is too stupid to breed.

Yeah, you just keep suffering that delusion you fuking moron - that cat could have taken you at any moment and there isn't anything you or anyone else could have done about it.

But you know I was at the Vet with my neighbors dog a couple days ago, and while we were waiting, an owner comes out with a VERY Large Bull Dog, this thing was a monster, it was certainly bigger than these Pit bulls you see attacking people on TV, it was thick, muscular and looked really aggressive, and on the way out, it went toward my neighbors dog (a small terrier mix), I asked the girl there what kind of bull dog it was and she said an American Bull Dog, I'm no dog expert, but I thought the American Bull Dog was a low to the ground dog, this dog was tall, above the guy's knees who was holding it, and probably weighed about 130lb, after watching this cat video, I'm wondering if the cat could handle a dog like that? What do you think?

Rhodesian Ridgebacks are the only dogs I'm aware of that could take on a big cat since that's what they were bred for. Ridgeback owners in the states breed them to take down feral and wild hogs. Dunno a thing about 'American Bulldogs'.

When I said 'take on', I meant in at least a pack of two with a human there to kill the lion.
As hunters, Ridgebacks were sent out in packs of two or more (usually twenty) to track down, then corner and wear down a lion by taunting and goading it into confusion, a tactic known as keeping the lion "at bay". The dogs, working in revolving groups, kept the lion at bay until the hunter arrived to dispatch the occupied lion with a well placed rifle shot from relatively close range.

You should see the videos of Ridgebacks taking on hogs.
Did you know that Airedales are used to hunt bears?

Yea, I'm no expert at all, and this dog had one of those big round "Pit-Bull" heads, but it was a hell of a lot bigger than a Pit you normally see, and most all cats will run away from a dog, I was wondering if a cat like this had any of that instinct, ...to run away

Cats are absolutely ridiculous hunters. I would think there would have to be a substantial size difference, or luck, for a bear to take a big cat. The agility, and speed are too mismatched.

Yea really, and it didn't really look like the cat was trying too hard, imagine if it'd been pissed or you were trying to screw around with it's mate or cubs... :D

In OP's video, at frame 3:15 it becomes clear that the larger bear is not the mother.

Cautionary tale of cougars, bears and humans

So now it's dawning on me, as I rush to open the door and breathe in the intoxicating smells of the B.C. wilderness, that this little panic inducing blurb has nothing to do with keeping me safe. It is all about keeping the animals protected.
If I don't walk the trails singing in a deep voice and react in a calm and confident manner upon meeting one of our national treasures, I could be liable for being mauled and eaten.
