I know the General Discussion section is where the majority of threads happen and where the majority of posters visit on a regular basis, so I wanted to announce it here: Agnut has resurrected his famous Bartering and Horse Trading thread from GIM1 here on GSUS!!! Look here in the Preparedness subforum. (http://gold-silver.us/forum/preparedness/bartering-and-horse-trading-%28part-duh%29/) Agnut and I are also working on bringing back an archive of the original thread from GIM1 here in it's entirety so it's available for reference to all members and visitors. This, in my opinion, is a great asset for this site, and I'm thankful he decided to bring it here. Thanks agnut!

Aw shucks, thanks. I have never felt more welcome.

But be forewarned; I will be writing about reality. And sometimes it ain’t pretty. Thing is, we must face reality in order to create real answers.

Throwing trillions of dollars at the failed banks, corporations, countries and Wall Street is a prime example of an unreal solution to very real problems. Especially when the trillions of dollars have been created out of thin air and the debt charged to citizens and future generations. The solution creates financial slavery. Perhaps that was the objective all along. Naah, nobody could be that wicked. I should be ashamed for think so lowly of my fellow beings.

I have a post almost finished for bartering and horse trading. I’ll put it up soon. And the archives need to be sent to madfranks ASAP.

Best wishes,

Agnut

If proposals for a Value Added Tax (VAT) are passed, then look for bartering to become the transaction of choice among the peasants and look for the underground economy to flourish. Probably won't be doing it over the internet of course due to the big ears and prying eyes of Uncle Sammy. However, within our communities face-to-face it will become a way of life. Not to mention the rise of self-sufficiency life-styles.

Right on, Black Blade. As govt regulations become more onerous and the economy becomes worse, folks will have to find ways to get what they need. That is, unless they can learn to do without.

From what I’m seeing lately, money is tight as a gnat’s bunghole and more folks are bartering and horse trading than in the past. A trend ? Well, trends are easy to identify after they have established themselves. But whether bartering becomes predominant or not, it has been, is, and will be a powerful skill to have. So even if b&h somehow doesn’t become widespread, there will be a greater advantage in being proficient.

Before there was money there was barter. Some doomsayers say we are going back to the dark ages. This could get very interesting.

Best wishes,

Agnut
