Sling Bow

anyone here ever tried this ?

i'm gonna buy a slingshot and give it a try ( with crappy arrows )
not gonna bother with the " whisker biscut " from China-mart ( $20 )
just gonna rig up something for an arrow rest

i wonder how accurate simple wood doweling would be at 20-25(?) feet ?

maybe makeshift string stabilizers for accuracy

I saw this a while back, got to give him credit, he's thinking, I think he's teaming up with another guy for a History/Discovery Channel special coming up on survival, I think this sling-bow could work on small prey, don't think it could generate enough velocity to acquire penetration for larger prey

I've seen a video where a kid uses black electrical tape for the rest.

I need to test this out. I make long bows and I've always thought I needed at least a 55 lbs draw.

However there are guys shooting longbows and recurves at 35 - 45 lbs draws that shoot arrows out pretty quickly. They just use lighter arrows. They also deer hunt with them. The lighter draw gives a steadier hand for greater accuracy. The idea of needing +50lbs for deer hunting seems to come from propaganda put out by compound bow manufacturers.

Sling shots seem to have a 35 - 45 lbs draw weight (I'm guessing). Using an arrow for a 40lbs bow would probably work the best.

If you use a dowel make sure it has some bendability.

looks like it would make an excellent addition to my BOB...i think i'll be making a trip to the local wal-mart this weekend and try it out...i like the idea of a collapsible arrow shaft as well...
