Ponce this shit is turning me into a wreck worrying about my family and friends and how bad things are gonna get. I missed the past 2 days of work feeling really ill from this. Thankfully I am taking the time to follow through on some preps and hopefully can make it to this weekend to get a few grand of preps stashed at my BOL for the family.

What they need to do now is build a enormous solid blum-bob and drop it in the hole in hopes to seal off the crater and fill in behind it tons and tons of builders and cement on top of that.
If the hole gets deeper the blum pop just sinks until it stops.
The best thing now is to let it get big so objects can be lowered into the hole and cemented off.
One huge gigantic plug.

Throughout the extended top kill procedure – which may take up to two days to complete - very significant changes in the appearance of the flows at the seabed may be expected. These will not provide a reliable indicator of the overall progress, or success or failure, of the top kill operation as a whole. BP will report on the progress of the operation as appropriate and on its outcome when complete

The top kill involves 6.5 and 3 inch wide pipes to inject mud and cement. My guess is this will take several days at that diameter, and most likely just blow back out of the hole.

The riser pipe is about 22' diameter. The plume appears to be about 4-5 times that. I would say at least a barrel a second is coming out eyeballing the flow, more probably 5, maybe 10-20.... So at least about a 100.000 barrels per day, probably half a million barrels or maybe even more than a million...

In my free market paradise,
the residents of the gulf states and anyone that could prove tangible injury from this spill would be the proud owner of 100% of BP's worldwide assets. Forfeited in a court of Common Law. Payable as a dividend check distributed monthly in perpetuity.
And the entire board of directors along with anybody involved with this particular accident would be made to labor as rotating butlers to coastal residents.

Looks real to me. Considering his political leanings, I would imagine it was not in the script to get upset with Obama. He's really pissed.
I am surprised more people aren't really pissed at Obama for his lack of involvement, considering the slashing that Bush took for his lack of prompt response to Katrina.

According to 'regulation' BP is only on the hook for 75 million, perhaps plus royalties for the oil and gas used in this event.
What we are seeing now, with actions and demands for more retribution than the regulations call for from Obama on down to many on this board, is market anarchy.
Put me with the market anarchists. While BP will never be able to compensate the true cost of their disaster, enough of an example must be made of them (and the relevent supervisors and mistake makers) that no other driller will be as lax as they were during the procedure, the risks would be too high for the company.
