I live on the Texas gulf coast - the beach is about 1/2 mile from my house and I can see the ocean from my office. Fortunately for me, the oil spill is going the opposite direction so I haven't seen any of it yet. We still had all you can eat oysters at the local seafood restaurant last week.

I live in SW Fl and luckily, so far, the currents have been very kind and have kept any flows well off our shores, of course that could change at any time. It has lots of folks spooked though, especially tourists. Local motels are running money back guarantees if you'll come spend your vacation here.

I talked to my brother last night. He has a beach house an hour South of Tampa and hasn't seen any oil yet, or noticed any chemical smells or anything.

We'll be going out to Tampa this weekend to see the family. I am sure we will be hitting the beach, so I will report back. They haven't mentioned anything yet.
