BP has been working the oil reservoir beneath the Deepwater Horizon for several months (decades, if you count exploration).
Matt Simmons is the Chairman Emeritus of Simmons Co International, a Houston based investment bank for the oil industry. They managed about $60 billion when he was the active manager.
I have been a big fan of Matt for about 5 years, and have followed him in interviews etc. Because of his recall of historical detail of the oil industry, sometimes he reminds me of a baseball trivia fanatic talking about the '69 Mets - total command of the facts.
I have never seen Matt looking so worried as in this video. Maybe there's something else going on, e.g. death in the family, that contributes to his look of worry.
Anyway, in this interview about the Deepwater Horizon spill, he says the facts presented by BP don't add up, and that what they indicate is a small spill that we've been seeing in the videos, and a much larger spill, possibly stemming from previous drilling efforts that were abandoned.

The guy on the right is Matt Simmons. He's about 70 years old, very wealthy but he's obviously not happy with what is going on.

"It Could Be 24 Years Before The Deepwater Gusher Ends" - in the second interview he explains more of the details of the disaster, from the perspective of an experienced geologist & oil-man.
