SNELLVILLE, Ga. - Two Gwinnett County high school students, one of them a star football player, are facing serious prison time. Julian Suber and Shaquan Houston are accused in an armed robbery drug deal, and instead of receiving their high school degrees with their classmates this week, they’re in jail instead.

A hearing was held for the pair on Friday afternoon, but now they’re awaiting a bond hearing and will remain in jail until that time.

Suber, a star running back at Brookwood High School, was supposed to be accepting a football scholarship to Georgia Southern University. But since the incident, the school has withdrawn their offer.

Houston is also a Brookwood student. Both were supposed to graduate with their classmates this week.

Investigators say Suber and Houston went to the home of an alleged drug dealer to repay a debt and to buy marijuana on May 16. But instead, one of the men he was with pulled a gun, and the robbery ensued.

Suber and Houston are both charged with armed robbery and felony weapons and marijuana possession. Suber faces additional counts of obstruction of law enforcement and disruption of a public school
