I'm bored, looking for some good movies to watch. My movie collection has gotten pretty huge, but I don't usually like watching the same movie more than once, unless it's been a few years.

What are some of your all time favorite movies?

I enjoy sci-fi (Soylent Green, Robocop [hell ya]), medieval and/or fantasy (good ones, i.e. Braveheart, Highlander, First Knight, Robin Hood, Lord of the Rings...), comedy (Anchorman, Napoleon Dynamite, Office Space... no crappy summer throw away garbage), drama (Shawshank Redemption, Fear and Loathing, especially enjoy lawyer movies; Erin Brockovich, The Verdict, The Rainmaker, etc., usually any Grisham movie is good), action movies sometimes (Bourne series, Ocean's 11), documentaries (but not "docuganda" pieces, there's a huge difference)...

I haven't listed all the movies I've seen by a long shot, just thought I'd share a few of my favorites as well.

The Taking of Pelham 123
Pandorum

To really get the full "Firefly/Serenity" chronological experience, you have to watch the first segment of Episode #1 of Firefly until 5:03 mark, stop it, pop in the movie Serenity and watch the first segment up to where the Alliance operative says; "Where are you hiding, little girl?", stop it, pop episode #1 back in and watch it and all subsequent episodes of Firefly, then pop the movie Serenity back in to where you stopped it and watch it to the end.

All the good shows never stand a chance on MSM...

Based on your list striped_bear I think you should like this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southland_Tales

Southland Tales is a 2007 science fiction/drama/black comedy film, written and directed by Richard Kelly. The title refers to the Southland, a name used by locals to refer to Southern California and Greater Los Angeles. Set in the then near future of an alternate history, the film is a portrait of Los Angeles and a comment on the military-industrial news-tainment complex.

The movie did poorly at the box office, most viewers (and even many of the actors) found the plot incomprehensible. 'Bourne' 'Shooter''s everywhere along with the politics!

I used my years of reading GIM conspiracy and science to follow this thing. ;D

Serenity.

Just watched Serenity the other day.

Check out Moon 2009
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1182345/

Book of Eli (post apocalypse with ass kicking), and I watched The Wolfman http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0780653/ last night. Buddy from the matrix ("Mr Anderson" bad guy) is the detective +1 for that.

all pretty good flicks.

Something really different :

Its slow going, deep dark and thoughtful. Not your average adventure movie ... there is little action, just a slow grind into oblivion.

I loved it !!

Pitch Black - sci fi, Vin Diesel's debut. he's good.

Armageddon - sort of sci-fi. they send an oil crew up to drill a hole in an asteroid so they can blow it up. definitely well-done, Ben Affleck's first big movie. they made it in 1998.

My Stepmother is an Alien - AVOID. it has a few flatulence gags but that's about it.

can't mention sci-fi without mentioning Alien/ Aliens/ Aliens 3/ Alien Resurrection.

i think Alien Resurrection was good. it has some classic lines. Ron Perlman, "Sleep when you die, man".

I have to say that some of these movie suggestions are truly terrible. Here are some good ones:

1. Revolver
2. Snatch
3. Beautiful Girls
4. Closer
5. Made
