Have to agree with you, I have a nephew (Army Ranger) in Afghanistan. He has the best of intentions, but he has absolutely no farking idea who he is really fighting for. I feel pity for those who have given their lives so that the corporations can rule the world.

When 9/11 hit, I was 19 years old. In my ignorance I got caught up in the hysteria and war mongering, and when it was announced that we were to invade Iraq, I was filled with what I understood to be patriotism and marched right into an Army recruitment center to sign up for full time active duty. I scored a 97 on my ASVAB and was told I could choose any job I wanted. I was planning to go into weapons engineering but failed my physical. Not because I couldn't perform the tests, but because I had what the military called "hardware", a metal pin in my foot from a previous broken bone. They don't like foot injuries and so I was automatically disqualified. My appeal came back negative and that was the end of it. 7+ years later and the war is still going on, my eyes have been opened and I've learned the ugly truth, that this war never was about freedom or defending the people of America. It is the military industrial complex, no doubt, run and managed by the banks and corporations that profit from endless war. They don't care about the lives of Americans or the lives of Iraqis or Afghans. I don't know if I had God on my side that day, but now I thank Him that I was disqualified and never partook in the ungodly invasion of those countries. My brother served two tours in Iraq, and I honor his bravery and valor, but he was fooled just like I was. His eyes are now open and he detests the war, but he was tricked into participating. So in whatever capacity I can, on this Memorial Day I will honor the purity of heart of all the vets who had real courage to sacrifice themselves for causes they believed to be just, but I will not honor the warmongers whose lies have brought about nothing but destruction.

As long as we are on this topic, let me clarify my stance so there is no mistake. i am a veteran who has seen combat and men died. I will defend their honor forever like brothers. that said, I DO NOT support Israel or the US govt. policies concerning it,also on that note, I do NOT support Palestine or any other Islamic nation, as i believe them to be enemies of the west, MY culture. as far as me being half native, my ancestors assimilated to the west long ago. so peoples little digs dont bother me so dont waste bandwidth (not directed at you WC)
