Louis Theroux is a guy from England who has done a bunch of documentaries. He fakes a naive persona which allows
him to ask some pertinent questions without getting too much flak,.. or just take the piss. He's great at highlighting hypocrisy.

Here's his documentary about survivalists. IMO, the main family he stays with come across very well; some of the others, less so.
