Now we're talking!
If Israel goes to war and loses, I think they will use the nuclear option and take everyone to hell with them.

Holy Sweet Lord, Turkey has announced they will send another flotilla to Gaza—escorted by the Turkish Navy!by Ian Welsh
If they actually do this, it is the very definition of throwing down.

Wow.

Does Israel want a war with Turkey? They can’t win it, short of using nukes, and Turkey is a NATO member, if Israel attacks NATO ships, Turkey can invoke Article V (in fact, they can invoke it already, since the ships were attacked by a non NATO power on the high seas.) If Turkey does so, of course NATO nations will refuse, but doing so will break NATO.

This is high stakes.

Update: I might add that in the case of a war between Turkey and Israel, if Turkey is serious, unless Israel uses nukes, my money is on the Turks. They have a huge armored corp, and the nations between Israel and Turkey aren’t going to say no if Turkey asks for access (because if they do, Turkey will just roll right through them.) Also if Turkey and Israel goes to war, it’s at least 50/50 the Egypt jumps in as well.

Israel is really playing with fire on this one.

I agree with what you have there.

The beginning of the end? Sure as hell hope this settles out but I don't see how.

Big problem---I believe there are only two entities that have never lost a war.

Israel and South Africa.

With Israel and their backs to the sea nukes always seemed their fall-back position to assure "Never Again".

Self-inflicted--looks like it.

God help us all.

I'm thinking it will not go this far, huffing and puffing...probably bluffing. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

This is probably true, but it is a dangerous game to play.

Nothing will happen because Obama will divert any harm against his brothers in the state of Israel.

Now is the time for Ron Paul to open up with everything that he has.

Turkey is ready to go in war with Israel, according to Erdogan (http://www.aysor.am/en/news/2010/06/02/turkey-israel-war/)

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made it clear that Turkey is ready to go in war with Israel.

In his parliamentary address Erdogan accused Israel of a "bloody massacre” as he described Israel's raid on a flotilla, including a Turkish ship, carrying relief supplies to blockaded Gaza.

"We see clear murder taking place, and we see an aggressive country,” Erdogan said criticizing Israel and warning not to test his country’s patience. He said: “Turkey’s hostility was as strong as its friendship is valuable.”

According to Erdogan, relations between the two countries would never be as before.

Not good -

I predict the Turkish Navy will have "mechanical failures" that will prevent their ships from entering Israeli waters. The (then unescorted) boats will be boarded by the Israeli's inside the territorial waters - detainment and incarceration for all.

Given that the Egyptians have relaxed their border blockade (a blockade not mentioned by the 'aid ships') the sea blockade becomes symbolic, though important since it is national sovereignty.

IMHO - This is just red meat to throw to both the Islamo-nuts & AIPAC lobby - distracting them from an economic meltdown. I'd prefer if they'd chosen a less explosive side show - this is like playing with a blowtorch inside of a petroleum refinery.
