Some GIM1 people may recall I had a thread there in CT forum called "Blue neckties on DC politicians- UN blue?". You may be able to find it if there's an archive up of GIM1 somewhere.

Without reinventing that wheel, you'll notice obama was sporting a blue necktie in that Gulf oil disaster speech. ;)

I assert that's not the meaning behind 'blue ties' at all. Blue is the color used in marketing to develop trust, which is why all the backdrops the USG uses (WH, Justice Dept., Pentagon, etc.) are dark blue. Thus the use of a blue tie in some circumstances.

The thing about ties to watch is for the red ties - note that when POTUS meets with an official of Israhell he never wears a red tie, because the red tie indicates who's 'on top'.
