Just curious, and wondering how many of us would stay where they were.

I live in a big city that's becoming far too much like LA. If I had the money I would move over to eastern Arizona along the New Mexico/Arizona border, it's beautiful country over there.

Getting ready to head that way at the end of this week... going to start by soaking in the hot springs in Gila Wilderness, then to Arizona and up to Monument Valley.

I need to move. I live basically right next to a major ghetto. I'm in a gated area, it's safe, but often hear gunshots at night. I'm going back and forth on the pros and cons of moving, but haven't made the plunge yet.

There's always crap everywhere you go unless you're really going into the middle of nowhere. I lived in a crappy neighborhood and moved to a nicer one and I've seen more crazy stuff happen in my time here than in the crappier one.

I had a question for those of you who live "out", so when you leave your house, and no one's home, do you ever think about your neighbor coming over to look around?
I guess dogs are mandatory huh? I never hear gunshots, 'cept on the 4th and New Year's Eve ....although Sunday some nut-job shot and killed 4 women and wounded a few more before he wacked himself

Looking forward to it. 2 years ago we were going through Hopi Land got invited to the big Kachina Dance. The Black Ocean prophesy has been on my mind lately. Might go back this year and visit a couple of people.

Sure Ken I know, but when the neighbors watch you leave, they know you're gone, and they may get tempted.....just sayin' ....guess a few dogs would be the answer

True, and a crappier area helps you keep your edge. I often park my car next to pimps. If they look at me, I stare them down. Walking to the gate, I get to experience prostitutes cat calls, and nothing like hearing the sound of a screeching tires from a local sideshow going down....
But, once inside the gate, we've got a great community of good neighbors.

Yes Ken, I think it'd be mandatory, my granny lived alone the last several years of her life and she'd worry sometimes at night about being alone, lived in a big yard, probably an acre lot, and it'd get dark at night, I'd always laugh though, she had 3 boxers and one would stay IN the house at night, the other 2 would stay outside, I'd always tell her it wasn't likely anyone would come in on her
here's a guy that wouldn't have to worry about a home-invasion

I was scared when I moved up here, there is no noise except the crickets.. I always thought some psycho killer would come and kill me,
Now I think they have alot more choices if they are in town.
I am scared to live in a town with lots of crazies.

I'm in a medium-sized suburb. I'd stay unless forced out. I'm far enough from the big city to be away from the fray. I live in a small neighborhood, with neighbors that I trust and that are helpful.

36 miles from a big town and 6 miles from a one mule Micky Mouse of a town, don't go away more than I have to because thanks to someone that was my "friend" every bum and druggie around here knows that I have it made.
Have more alarms and noise makers than Ft Knots so that no one comes around even when I am here.......have sign on back door "WARNING, THIS HOUSE IS BOOBY TRAP....NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY INJURIES.....YOU HAVE BEEN RECORDED AT THIS SPOT".
Have a "No Trespassing" sign all over the place.........even kicked out a Sheriff that came by asking for money for something or other.
Otherwise? I live in Valhalla, love it here.......have almost everything that I need or want.

I live in a northern Californian suburb.
It's peaceful and a bit boring but I think it's reasonable.

We rent a house in a small town (16,000 people). I deliberately moved here to get away from Phoenix, AZ. I miss Phoenix, but I didn't want to be around there if TSHTF. I moved to West Virginia, much more my speed and it fits our lifestyle a lot better! My wife and I are looking at places outside of town with an absolute minimum 2 acres property for gardening and having an orchard.
My wife and I aren't rich, no McMansions for us. We're looking at modest houses in the 75k range ~10-15 miles from town

I'm 20 miles south of Memphis in Mississippi. If TSHTF there are a lot of good ole' boys around here that would keep the zombies at bay. However, when things did not get better they'd be worse to contend with than the zombies. Would be time to head south. My wife's family has over 400 acres in south MS. It's a stones throw from where Lynyrd Skynyrd's aircraft crashed and burned.
