The oil spill is giving off benzene is my understanding.

Mouse just reported crap in the rain, not surprising.

There is an eerie silence and no sense of urgency in media/gov.

Nothing about this is right.

On the article.
I personally have been doing this for a while opening my
windows and side door when it is hot out especially if I
am going for a long drive which I do often, don't like the
new car smell of chemical smells, they give me a headache,
and I am in business, deal with a lot of made in china products,
no choice for some items, they smell bad and give you headaches,
even clear soft vinyl packaging I use is terrible, smells bad,
gives you a headache and even has high lead contact I hear,
go to any section in Walmart with vinyl or plastic products like
automotive, steering wheels, seat covers, it smells bad, full of
chemicals that give off chemical stink, I happen to be one of those
people that is sensitive to this, I don't use perfume products as
well on my body, rarely will I spray something.

Danger Of Benzene & Car Air Conditioning

No wonder more folks are dying from cancer than ever before. We wonder where this stuff comes from but here is an example that explains a lot of the cancer causing incidents. Hmmm. Many people are in their cars first thing in the morning and the last thing at night, 7 days a week. As I read this, it makes me feel guilty and ill.

Car A/C (Air Conditioning) MUST READ!!!

Please do NOT turn on A/C as soon as you enter the car.

Open the windows after you enter your car and turn ON the AC after a couple of minutes.

Here's Why

According to a research, the car dashboard, sofa, air freshener emit Benzene, a Cancer causing toxin
(carcinogen - take time to observe the smell of heated plastic in your car).

In addition to causing cancer, Benzene poisons your bones, causes anemia and reduces white blood cells.

Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer.

Can also cause miscarriage.

Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50mg per sq.ft. A car parked indoors with windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Benzene.

If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level.

People who get into the car, keeping windows closed will inevitably inhale, in quick succession, excessive amounts of the toxin.

Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver.. What's worse, it is extremely difficult for your body to expel this toxic stuff.

So, friends, please open the windows and door of your car - give time for interior to air out -dispel the deadly stuff - before you enter.

Raw crude oil is naturally loaded with a petrochemical called benzene. Unfortunately, several regulatory agencies (the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency [EPA], and the International Agency for Research on Cancer) classify benzene as a confirmed human carcinogen (CHC). In other words, benzene causes cancer and other chronic disease states.

This is for real and all over internet from all sorts of sources.

Now and in the days ahead, it is critical to protect your children’s health and your own from the effects of the BP oil spill in the Gulf. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC) recommends that people avoid close contact with the oil spill and the fumes that arise from the burning oil, especially if you or your children have asthma or any other respiratory or lung condition..

You don’t need to be among the oil spill cleanup crews to suffer health consequences from the Gulf oil spill. The CDC notes that people may be able to smell fumes from the oil spill from the shore, and that what people detect is from volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can include benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylene, and naphthalene.

Although the CDC states that “the level of vapors in the air will be below the level that can hurt you,” people may still experience headache, vomiting, or nausea. Exposure to even low levels of VOCs can cause irritation of the eyes, nose, throat, and skin. People who have asthma may be more susceptible to the effects of inhaled VOCs. The agency also recommends parents contact their pediatrician if their children develop any symptoms associated with contact with oil or oil fumes.

Coca-Cola settles in benzene lawsuit

By Chris Mercer, 15-May-2007

Coca-Cola has reformulated two of its soft drinks in the US to halt a lawsuit alleging they may contain the cancer-causing chemical, benzene.

Coca-Cola Agrees to Remove Benzene from Soda

Coca-Cola has agreed to remove ingredients found in some of its soft drinks which might combine to produce carcinogenic benzine.

http://lighterfootstep.com/2007/05/coca-cola-agrees-to-remove-benzene-from-soda/

Benzene — in soda? It’s true: many bottled soft drinks and related beverages contain benzene, a well-known carcinogen. Benzene is a major industrial contaminant: a powerful solvent sometimes used in the manufacture of plastics. You take in a fair amount every day through air pollution and in drinking water.

Coca-Cola and other bottlers aren’t putting it there on purpose, of course. But the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has known for almost fifteen years that potassium benzoate and sodium benzoate — commonly used as preservatives in soda drinks — can react with the ascorbic acid, which is also added to ensure product freshness. The result is benzene.

Benzene can form in soft drinks containing vitamin C, also called ascorbic acid, and either sodium benzoate or potassium benzoate. Scientists say factors such as heat or light exposure can trigger a reaction that forms benzene in the beverages.

Big Soda vs. Our Kids: Better Beware of Benzene in Soda Pop
by Ross E. Getman

Internal soda-company documents provided by a whistleblower show that in late 1990 it was known that the benzene being discovered in some soft drinks was not due to contaminated carbon dioxide, as had been the case with Perrier. Rather, it was due to the breakdown of benzoate in the presence of ascorbic acid.

On Jan. 12, the Food and Drug Administration gave me two memos from 1990-91 about benzene in soft drinks. The representatives of the National Soft Drinks Association told the FDA at the time that they wanted to avoid any publicity on the issue.

For the record I tried boycotting them
but the searches are not as good.
Let them know anyways, we are watching them.

"And many will die"... Ponce

Don't only look to the "now" but also into the future....the US government are not telling you that there is already a shortage of food and the riots that will be because of this.......the waters and food fields of FL are doomed and soon to the West, North and upper East they will be going.

I said it before and I will say it again.....the time to get ready is before it happens and not after.

As soon as all this oil reaches foreign land the fun will start where they all will blame the US and the US will blamed BP and Bp the US ........but who the hell cares?......the everlasting damage has already been done.....you wanted oil??? well, Mother Earth will give ALL THE OIL that you wanted.

Expect an earthquake pretty soon........

Something is coming, either it is bluff or for real, the buildup
for and against Iran has not stopped, Obongo has expanded
the wars, fulfilling PNAC, the NeoCons never went away, freedom
erosion and wars will continue and get worse soon I suspect.

This BP thing stinks to high heaven from the beginning.

I haven't corroborated the sources yet, but the chatter on the net claims that the Bilderberg meeting has given the green light to the strike on Iran.

BURAS, Louisiana (Reuters) - BP Plc estimates that a worst-case scenario rate for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill could be about 100,000 barrels of oil per day, according to an internal company document released Sunday by a senior U.S. congressional Democrat.

Its estimate of up to 100,000 barrels (4.2 million gallons/15.9 million liters) of oil per day is far higher than the current U.S. government estimate of up to 60,000 barrels (2.5 million gallons/9.5 million liters) gushing daily from the ruptured offshore well into the sea.

health conscious Gulf shore residents will go out for a jog and come home dizzy, at best.

i think it will take a while for it to sink in, the environment in some areas has become hostile to human life and we don't know exactly for how long. just that the affected area is getting bigger & bigger. And it's a little hard to pin down because the conditions change with wind direction and other weather conditions.

i imagine for a lot of the folks there, they are financially constrained and so there will be a psychological tendency to hope and to "tough it out". this benzene sounds like sniffing glue or something, i don't think i'd want to experience that.

i also imagine people will be getting sick en masse and there's not a whole lot the doctors can do about it - except tell them to MOVE - which the doctors should be doing now, in anticipation of a medical disaster.

it's not like the symptoms can be alleviated by cutting down on fatty foods or taking an anti-depressant or starting an exercise program.

Southern doctor speak, "You done been poisoned by BP, boy. You got any Yankee relatives ? You best move and stay with them."

but if the doctors know what's going on ... they won't be in the affected areas.

if there are still business and engineering schools in a hundred years, i think this incident will be used as an example of the "Classic Clusterf*ck".

this last thing is a 2 minute news broadcast about farmers in Southern Mississippi and the disease that has struck crops and plants at farms and homes universally in the area. they blame it on the "air" in the TV article, and they don't actually connect the dots to the Gulf Oil Spill.

it has some good information - it shows the symptoms on a broad variety of plants. also showing cases of birds dying in the bird-feeder for no apparent reason.
