Immigrants are making Germany 'dumber', according to a board member of the country's central bank.

Thilo Sarrazin claimed the 'limited education' of immigrants - coupled with their high birth rate - meant Germans 'are becoming dumber in a simple way'.

He said: 'There's a difference in the reproduction of population groups with varying intelligence.'

It is not the first time the 65-year-old member of the Bundesbank has caused controversy since he joined last year.

In October he described Muslim children as 'underclass' citizens.

'I don't have to accept someone who lives off a state they reject, doesn't properly take care of the education of his children-and keeps producing more little girls in headscarves,' Mr Sarrazin said.

'That goes for 70 percent of the Turkish and 90 percent of the Arabic population of Berlin.' He added that they were not fit for much other than 'fruit and vegetable selling'.

In his latest speech this week he said there were 'ample statistics' proving he was correct about German intelligence.

He went on to say that in particular immigrants from 'Turkey, the Middle East and Africa' were less educated.

Because immigrants tend to have more children than Germans - who have the lowest birth rate in Europe - this caused 'a different propagation of population groups with different intelligence because parents pass their intelligence on to their children'.

Mr Sarrazin, who was previously Germany's finance minister, has not yet apologised. It is thought his position at the Bundesbank may now be untenable.

A spokesman for a Muslim group in Berlin said: 'He is a tired old white Christian male full of prejudice and few ideas.'

But among conservatives in Germany his comments have struck a chord.

They have voiced concern that the country's three million Turks tend to live in their own communities, socialise among each other and have little in common with their German neighbours.

Well, and what the heck do you think that's happening right here in the states?.

Some schools no longer give a test but simple pass everyone to the next grade.

And college? they lowered the entrance standards by 30% so that the "minority" could get in......why hell, compared to some of them I have a PhD and I didn't even finished the 10th grade..............as I see it, many think that all that they can learn is from school and not in the outside........school can only teach you what they know and not what you should know.

This shit in Germany started right after the wall came down. The place became inundated with welfare cases from all the former Warsaw Pact countries. Lots of Turks joined the migration, too.

Not to get down on any particular group, as I believe everyone earns their merit as an individual, but obviously it was the people who had no reason or hope for staying in their home countries that poured into Germany. That included East Germans. The former West Germans agreed to bankrupt themselves from the get-go when they told the former East Germans (and anyone else who arrived with the currency) that they'd accept worthless East German marks on par with West German marks.

The couple that watched our kids had a bunch of Romanians move in above them. I mean a bunch - 20 or so in an area designed for one family. It was a nightmare, they said. The couldn't leave stuff out like they used to, or it would disappear.

And we do the same thing here. Whenever these politicians scream about cutting budgets, most of us have noticed not a word is mentioned about cutting benefits for illegal aliens. Our schools spend a shitload of money on forcing teachers to attend training and on "specialists" to deal with these kids that are here illegally and don't speak a lick of English. They get free breakfasts and lunches, and take up the teachers' time, and most of them (a few really try) are nothing but a pain in the ass. And we spend all this money so they'll "pass" the state proficiency exam, or at least show improvement from year to year, which means the feds will throw more money at us. Whether the feds print that money or tax it out of us, it's not in our best interest. We lose either way.

Well Ringo, they should learn English........this is The United States of North America..................and not of Mexico, Nicaragua, Cuba or Haiti.

I am proud to say that when my two nieces came in from Cuba the proficiency of the older one was 60% in English and about 15% for the little one.....at least they could communicate.

Oh yeah, I agree with you. Maybe I didn't make myself clear. I have no problem with immigrants per se, as many of us either are immigrants, or are less than a handful of generations removed from being immigrants.

My aggravation stems from illegal immigrants who want all the benefits of being in this country without bearing the responsibility that citizenship incurs. Many of these kids don't want to learn English - they see no need to. Very different from past generations, when people who came here looking for a better life learned the language, assimilated, and while proud of their heritage, considered themselves Americans first and foremost.

Also, years ago, most folks that didn't speak English took it upon themselves to learn it as fast as they could. Parents wanted their kids to get educated, so they sent them to school, where they only spoke English. That meant teaching the kids English before they set food in a classroom, or learning it as quickly as possible afterward.

Nowadays many immigrants have no intention of assimilating - they just want to suckle at the nearest entitlement teat and hang on for all it's worth. Teachers are forced to jump through hoops to accommodate these kids who don't know English in the first place, and have no plans on learning it at all. Why bother? The system pushes them through regardless of how much or little they learn.

I've been through this firsthand. We had a couple of kids (two brothers) rounded up in a raid, and nobody was able to figure out who or where their parents were. So they became wards of the state, and placed at my school. I had them in one of my 8th grade classes, even though these guys were probably close to 17 years old. They were probably operating on a 3rd grade level, even in their native language. One of my Mexican students tried to help them at first, but he gave up. Told me they weren't interested and he was done wasting his time. But these kids were getting social services out the wazoo.

That said, while I was spending all this time looking for materials for these kids and trying to teach them, it took away time that I could spend on my other students. So there's that factor, too. And it's not only illegals, we do it with the special ed kids, too.

Interesting. I guess I should have said it's been going on at least that long. Would it be safe to say the collapse of the wall drove the program to warp speed? I was there from 93 to 97, and that's definitely the impression I got. Nearly all of our German neighbors and co-workers were very uncomfortable about the situation.

Not exactly. The DDR had lots of non-Whites, Vietnamese, Africans, and others, flooding in for some time before the Wall came down. Both "German" governments have been hell-bent on de-Germanization (of course, their stance on "being German" is simply speaking the language) for many decades.
