For immediate release...

Obama declared Gulf seafood safe to eat and said his administration is redoubling inspections and monitoring to make sure it stays that way.

So he encourages people to go and visit beaches and oceans laden with oil but he tells people to stay the hell out of Vegas when their economy is in the crapper.

Not that we didn't already know it but he's moron.

There were cheap apartments in Battery Park after 911 too. The cancer was not free of charge...

I think he and his family should play in the sand and surf to prove how harmless it is.

Now he can predict the future.

That wasn't a snow cone. It was the former Mayor of New Orleans.

Obama says Quantum's avatar image is what you can expect to enjoy when you get here... relaxed, laid back, floating in the waters. "Can someone get me an iced tea?"

The Kenyan Prince is taking a page out of Bill Clinton's playbook: Find out what the particular audience for that day wants to hear, and say it. The merchants and speculators with beach rentals have been belly-aching ever since the first drop of oil entered the water, and they want money - either from BP or the tourists. I guess BO figures he's got a better chance of convincing tourists to bask in the oil than getting any money out of BP this century.

To be honest, I live here - two stinking miles from the beach. And I don't go there. The novelty wore off after the first year. It's hotter than hell this time of year, the humidity is off the charts, and the sand is so fine - almost like a powder - that it gets blown around and sticks to every inch of your sweaty body. Maybe it's just me - I can't handle heat real well since my visit to Desert Storm. We went out to the beaches in California last year, and after finding a parking spot, spending time on the beach was very enjoyable.

And I've really come to hate the beach chamber of commerce and all the people who live on the beach. Honestly, they're always whining and complaining about one thing or another (like their property taxes are too high, we don't spend enough of OUR tax dollars to lure tourists here, etc.)

What really chaps my ass is how we here on the mainland pay for their insurance. When the insurance companies fail to offer them policies, which they need because they all have mortgages, the insurer of last resort must insure them (Citizen's). They're government subsidized. How do they offer premiums low enough for those beach people to afford? By tacking on an extra 1% to every insurance policy the mainlanders have - home, auto, motorcycle, boat, etc. Socialism for the rich! You gotta love it!

Ya. Over half of them are less than 30% saturated in oil and sludge. And we have placed stepping stones through the goopier parts. Free silly putty for the kids, too! Ummm., please, no smoking on the beaches (or campfires).

One of the local radio stations is airing a BP commercial that talks about what they're doing to clean up this tragedy and how they've already paid out $18B in compensation and will continue to assist those that they affected. Living here in the Ft Myers area it struck me as odd why they are playing that commercial here...unless they expect it to be here.
