Curious, from another forum, does anyone have a 2010 FRN?

The claim is that there are no 2010s.

I can't check because all mine were converted into bullion and all I have is a 2006 $10

I am FRNancially challenged.

There are none. The latest Series I've seen is 2006. However, there is supposed to be a Series 2009, due to Geithner's name needing to be on the FRN (Series years change when the Secretary of the Treasury changes).

I just remembered I have a couple of New $10s, crisp, clean, no caffeine, from my credit union (out of FRB banding). They're still Series 2006, though. They should be Series 2009.

Are they not printing Series 2009, like they're supposed to?

I've noticed A LOT of older bills in circulation...I even got a James Baker Series 1985 $20 about a week ago, in PERFECT condition. I'm assuming people are digging into their secret cash stashes and releasing these into circulation. I'm also noticing a substantial number of really sh*tty bills, really worn out.

I remember seeing little Timmys signature a while back but I didn't notice the date. Real strange not to have any 2010s though. Wonder what that would mean, trying to take all the FRNs from the people by not printing new or more? Would make sense because as I read the game it's supposed to remove them all eventually through tax. Thats what happened in the great depression, nobody had any FRNs and were supposed to turn in all gold. Maybe this is the big push to go all electronic. That should work out good when the grid goes down I'm sure.

Edit: +1 on the shitty bills, lots around here. Maybe the banks cant turn them in because there's nothing to replace them with?

That would suggest that a shitload was printed up in 2006 that have been kept in storage and released when deemed apropriate.

It's quite possible. It could also be possible that more and more people are turning to the Gray & Black Economy and using cash more and more often.

I just read that the BEP only started issuing Series 2009 bills with Tax Cheat Timmy on them in December.

51.2 million Series 2009 $20 bills issued in December 2009.

The first Series 2009 $1 bills were issued in February 2010.

For some odd reason, the BEP is STILL printing Series 2006 notes as of April 2010:

They don't have to make new notes every year the way they do with coins. Each denomination is worked on separately and released in series' which will then be printed every year until the next series debuts. There are usually missing years between the separate series' and I don't think there will be a series 2010 FRN.

Thanks for clearing that up! I wonder the reason for not printing bills every year with the correct year? It shouldn't be that difficult to do....

I get between 4-6 pre-65 coins in my change every week. I'm thinking many folks are digging into the piggy bank. My big surprise was a 1940 nickel!

The big question is whose signature will be on the Amero? :-\

either that, or there's a heck of a lot FRNs coming back to mama from abroad. the latter would be a really bad thing, as you guessed.

not to mention fake FRNs printed under the close "supervision" of alphabet agencies outside US.

As mentioned FRNs are not issued with a new year on them every single year. It has always been this way to my knowledge. I don't think it has much to do w/ FRNS from abroad coming back either, I am guessing that the majority of "US FRNS" abroad don't take the form of actual paper FRNS.

The new F$100 bill appears to be series 2009.
