View Full Version : The "Thumper" and the "Interrupter".......

While falling asleep last night I was thinking about our boys (and girls) been killed in Iran and Afgh because of the large mines being burried in the middle of the road and I came up with the following..........

Remember the movie "Dune" where the mother and the son were in the desser and a large "Worm" came after them? and then someone placed a "Thumper" elsewhere to distract the Worm?.......well

Every mile or so the scout vehicle could stop and with a flat piece of heavy metal they coul thump the ground.........the same would radiate a underground signal all the way around in a radar in the scout vehicle and by looking at the forward position they could see when there was something underground.......the softness of the gound where the hole was dug would read as a different consistancy on the radar.

The "Interrupter"......this would be to check the tracks ahead of a train, a weak electric current on one rail would shoot foward and when ever there was something on the rail OR there was no rail the signal in the train cab would change and tell the train ingeneer.

If "Homeland Security" or the "Feds" or someone that could do something with this idea......are monitoring this site then please pass it on to the proper outhority, be sure to give me the credit for it.

I think the "Interrupter" already exists (as I understand it), and is useful feature to exploit in special times of limited tactics.

The Natives in Canada have caused slowdowns (to protest land claims) on the tracks by falsely indicating a problem using wire, etc. to fool the 'interrupter' circuit. The trains must stop even if they suspect it is a false signal.

Now that I think about it, I like the idea of the 'Thumper', because you could just bury a bunch of fake mines to screw with them, and then a few real ones here and there.

Ponce, could you imagine something (drone) that could fly over roads suspected of having mines, spot them and try to detonate them from above using 'Thumper' based technology? IE: no live ammo.

The Thumper has already been invented. It is a barrel made of chains. A tank pushes it across the ground and the chains thump the ground setting off any mines there.

As for any detection device, it is very easy to occupy a force for a long time by setting phony mines. A plate upside down in the road will stop a tank long enough for the crew to inspect, and they have to stop and inspect every one they find.

Thanks for the link but I am talking about something else.......the small power of my signal would ride the railroad lrail itself and as long as there is nothing in way it would be a atraight line on the monitor, if was is something on the line, or no line, it would then alert the engineer.

About the "Thumper" while is true that there would be some false signal because of decoys I feel that it would be better to find a decoy than to find nothing and blow up, besides, you could detect a mine at half a mile and not when you are right over it.

Sorry Ponce,

The description of the 'interrupter' reminded me of hearing about putting metal poles on train tracks to short the circuit...

And I was just following the counter-TPTB route, because I doubt to see this sort of tech used on my behalf on this soil. So, I guess I am more interested the in tactics used when a 1-on-1 can't be won due to vastly superior technology. I can easily imagine, and fear being the underdog in the most likely scenarios.

The ideas are what is important though. While something may currently exist, nothing says it is being done in the best possible way.

No reason to be "sorry", after all we are here to learn from each other.
