June 18 (Reuters) - The first of two relief wells being drilled to plug the massive Gulf of Mexico leak is within 200 feet (60 metres) of the blown-out well, a BP (BP.L) (BP.N) executive said on Friday

I won't hold my breath.

I heard on the news while I was driving "BP is ahead of schedule" . . . are you kidding me? Ahead of schedule for what - complete destruction of the Gulf of Mexico and all of it's inhabitants? Well then, yeah.

I had that thought also

I guess the output could almost double, perhaps 250,000 barrels a day?

10 million gallons a day.

Why the hell not? It will give them the opportunity to sell themselves more Corexit.

if it really is 70,000 psi (as lindsey williams is saying)

you have to wonder, what have the oil R & D guys developed in the last 2 months to handle that pressure??

my guess is nothing

so if what lindsey is saying is true, then these wells will blowout also

IIRC ~200 feet is a good distance to detonate the nuke.

I expect they will use drilling mud this time. That should help. 8)

EE posted this in another thread. A guy says 100 000 psi you just cannot hold that back so why drill a second well ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yF2SeJmbjKY&feature=player_embedded#!

15,000 - 70,000 - 100,000

No matter the number the BOP installed was not one that could handle the pressure coming out. (It was a 6,000 psi BOP, which has a max capacity of <10,000 psi)

And soon we shall have TWO!

Two spewing wells, that is.

it's a Kafka-esque refrain of the 12 Days of Christmas.

on the 12th day of Christmas the Demon Spawn BP gave to us

12 wells a spewing

etc. etc. etc.
