had a visitor today

I was watering the veggies and almost stepped on this guy today.

After I got a few pics, he quickly found a gopher hole to crawl into. :)

I caught two (yes TWO) Porcupines in a Havahart trap yesterday morning. A mother and her teenager. They had hammered my Swiss chard the night before, so I made a corral with rabbit fencing leading into the trap right over my Swiss chard, baited with Swiss chard.

Mrs. Old said in the morning, "You've caught a BIG porcupine!" I did a double take before i realized it was two.

I've aought them before; they will absolutely destroy the brassica crop. I drove across a major river (breaking the law prohibiting the "transport" of animlas), and let them go in a rocky area. I've eaten them before but they aren't all that good. I wish them well, but wouldn't be surprised if thyend up road kill

I need to figure out how to post photos, I'm out in dial up land if anyone can give me some help...

The only snakes I have are garters, although Mrs. Old is afraid of them for some strange reason.

good lord... I hope I never see one of those in my garden... I only want to see bunnies and squirrels

Having lived in Ca. my whole life I have never seen a real live Porcupine.

Ximmy: bunnies and squirrels will eat your veggies though....snake eat them ;)


I found another 'Visitor" in the garden and Brought him in for a photo shoot :)
