Be wary of chain emails that offer big names to give the illusion of credibility but in reality offer no real links to said big names.

Is it a Windows problem? I use Kubuntu Linux as my main OS.

I don't understand why anyone would write a virus, and I don't understand why anyone would write an email about a fake virus.

Can someone explain this to me? Do they feel "famous" for doing stuff like this? What's the deal?

probably has some email tracker in it that shows a list of all it was sent to, could be done to obtain emails for marketing, or maybe some pizza faced kid in a basement somewhere with too much downtime between games of WOW...

who knows? i always delete unsolicited emails from unknown sources immediately without opening them.
