"“It’s funny to see all the security preparations and all for naught,†said John Niedzwiecki, owner of a chip truck stationed in a strip-mall parking lot. “We’re all kind of bored.â€
In Toronto, a 12-block section of downtown is surrounded by concrete barriers and three-meter (10-foot) high metal fencing, part of Canada’s largest-ever security operation with 20,000 police and security guards. Starting at 8 p.m. tonight, only people who work in the security zone or are accredited for the summit at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre will be allowed past the gates.
Businesses Boarded Up
Toronto businesses are starting to board up their storefronts in anticipation of rowdy demonstrations. "
it reminds me of the securitized world in the movie Robocop.

How could you even plan to spend 1 billion on security for a two day event. This is preposterous. You would need months of planning and huge staffing just to figure out how to spend a billion at all. This is more robbery. Pretending to fail again and again. I bet they spend a billion protecting these shit stains and FAIL. On purpose.

The best thing is if no one came to protest, and they just looked real dumb (and broke)!

I think it's a sign that they are more frightened of we the people than at any time in recent history.

that's a good point.
i think the people are realizing en masse that the government and big business do not follow the rule of law.
this leads to all sorts of obvious questions, like - why should we give our money to a crime gang, in the guise of taxes ?

The ridiculousness goes on and on.
Two weeks ago they were uprooting small trees that could be used as weapons. :o

Eliminating the wood would definitely get in the way of having sex. ;D
