Therefore, this laser's beam exceeds the skin exposure MPE by ( 15 / 0.2 ) = 75 times. At this level of irradiance, skin exposure to the intense blue laser light can possibly cause cancer. Do not allow bare skin to be exposed, including your face when wearing safety goggles, to light diffusely reflected from any surface closer than several inches. This laser is a thousand times stronger than sunlight on skin and any type of exposure should be avoided whether it be from the collimated beam or close exposure to its bright diffused reflections.

Yeehaw

Forget using a bayonet.

FYI - Super long wait - they are backlogged for at least a month :(

Almost wonder if NWTmint is running the show over there

I can't see the videos... So what use is this blue laser of? I bet the possibility of it creating cancer isn't going to repell many attackers...

Up close this 1 watt blue laser (which is pulled from a Casio projector laser array) will burn through wood, leather, electrical tape, etc. While perhaps not deadly like bullet from a gun, exposure to eyes will result in instant permanent blindness for sure - even at a good distance (and very likely from the reflected beam up close to the point of impact/reflection). Consider the possibilities (for terrorizing a certain class of professional criminals) - because this 1w blue laser is capable of immediate serious injury to anyone within eyesight I suspect it won't be long until the possession of one outside a projector will be an *offense* resulting in prison time.

One should NOT even think about turning on one of these 1w blue lasers without first putting on high quality laser eye protection.

And a warning from the site: (http://www.wickedlasers.com/laser-tech/blue_light_hazard.html)

Blue light hazard can cause BLINDNESS and not just color perception issues. The power of this laser is no joke, at 1W the Spyder III Pro Arctic is a Class 4 Laser. Do not allow unprotected eye exposure to diffusely scattered light from the beam terminating on a wall, the floor or other flat surface from this laser closer than 3 feet. Accidental eye exposure will definitely result in instant retina tissue damage even within just milliseconds of exposure. Direct eye contact with the beam or reflected will cause instant permanent damage and blindness. Sometimes blindness may take a day or longer for the onset. Unlike instant injury from a bright flash of a red or green laser, this effect is cumulative over 24 hours. It is also possible that such an exposure could cause retinal degeneration and even loss of vision later in life.

This is a very serious issue and would like to reiterate that extreme care, proper safety gear and the necessary safety precautions be followed when using the Spyder III Pro Arctic, it is not a toy, it is a high power Class 4 1W laser. In addition, this laser must NEVER be used to play with your pets. At close range, this Class 4 beam will cause immediate and irreversable retinal damage. Close proximity to the beam's diffused reflection off floors and walls could potentially cause injury and blindness. In general, DO NOT aim this laser on yourself, on your skin, on animals, on others or target moving vehicles and airplanes.

Folks,
This is the kind of thread that could end some of you up in JAIL... or worse.
Please think carefully about what you post, before posting it.
Thanks,

Shining a laser of any power level at an aircraft is a felony.
Shining a laser of any power level at any vehicle may carry the same penalty.
Shining a laser of any power level at any person may result in unpredictable outcomes.

Use lasers at least the same way you would use guns - responsibly!
I say at least because laser beams pose more ricochet possibilities.

For the techies among us who would like to learn more and/or try their hand at making their own high-powered blue lasers, check out the "445" threads at laserpointerforums(dot)com or photonlexicon(dot)com forums.

SAFETY FIRST!!!

Totally agree with Ragnarok - like any tool - it can be dangerous when used irresponsibly.

Shining any laser at anyone/thing can get you into very big trouble - (and cause injury or death).

They've now got 2 models (in theory)

G1 - straight up 1w blue laser (on/off)

G2 - blue 1 w with 20% and 100% power modes both can be either strobe or beam.

We will see if the company ever really delivers. (They're backlogged worse than NWT Mint!)
