Why are you trying to obtain so much cargo capacity? Are you planning on bugging out on this bike?

sometimes when you cannot get an exact fit, finding a piece that fits over both parts works.

i.e. a rubber hose

not as pretty, but it should work in a pinch

You're going to have to dissasemble the quick release to mount the hitch.

Bags, panniers and racks are somewhat standard.

i've had a front basket on my mountain bike for awhile now
but now with my "wild edible" ride/walks, i need more carrying space

been thinking of getting one of these for the back - $34 ( don't like the soft rear bags )

i don't know, but i'll take something like this over soft rear bags any day
the only problem with these wire baskets
is having some kind of weight in them and then going over curbs
one could always reinforce the two down supports to the lower back frame
there's always the option of buying a Cargo Bike

the rear rack shown below is rated for " up to " 130 lbs - $895 (http://www.bamboosero.com/buy-a-bike/product.php?productid=8&cat=6&page=1)

if you know anyone with welding / fabricating experience
give them a bike and some pictures of Cargo Bikes and ask them to " improvise "
