FT. MEYERS, Fla. -- Thousands of people joined hands across coastlines in South Florida and around the world to take part in a movement aimed at expressing outrage over the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Many who participated in Saturday's event held hands for 15 minutes -- some with friends or relatives. Others joined strangers' hands.

It was a grassroots movement inspired by the 1980s Hands Across America human chain effort where beachgoers in 30 states and nearly a dozen countries plan to join hands, forming a symbolic barriers to protect the shoreline from oil spills.

In other news:
Several million people stayed inside today to protest the uncomfortable heat of the day. The sun really didn't care and just kept right on fusing hydrogen.

I am among them! In fact, I vow never to return outside until the sun has completley stopped all forms of nuclear fusion, or until the earth tilts away from it. ;D

Yeah, sometimes I wish FEMA would just get a move on with the mass evacuation of Florida so I'd be forced out of this muggy hot hell hole.

Maybe I'd get a nice cool FEMA trailer up in the Mts. near TnAndy. :)

I'm sure that most of them got in their cars and drove to the protest. The oil companies are quaking in their boots.
