the Valdez cost $2.5 to $3.5 billion to clean up. the $5 billion punitive damages was cut by a judge to $500 million.

with this disaster we have an Exxon Valdez size spill every 2 to 2 1/2 days.
i agree the cost for destroying 1 or 2 oceans is close to infinite.
various lawyers will try to cap the damages, but that doesn't clean the ocean.
