A friend is taking an economics course today and asked me this. He say that his theory is that big bills make black market purchases easier in other countries. I asked him if he thought that TPTB are trying to limit cash purchases in America, and he responded... "Hmm, they probably are."

Why doesn't American Fiat go higher today, especially when it used to?

Lots of reasons. You can leave the country with an undetected cool million in $500 bills. A lot harder with $100's.

I would advise converting to the Singapore Dollar

S$10K=US$7.2K

Having the $100 bill as the largest note creates the illusion of value.

In reality, the $1,000 note should have replaced the $100 note long ago.

I would say it's because most Americans could not breakdown transactions in their head at all if it was over 100.

Most have trouble with pocket change nowdays.

Twenty five years ago I had one of them ($500) folded in my wallet for a long time. I always have 1 to 2 grand in cash on me. It is a pain in the butt having to carry 100's and no one will cash them.

That's when you could get a bundle of Tai Sticks for 100$. Days long gone.

That's what I was going to post.

Oh man... I thought $20 was the largest bill. :o

I haven't seen a $100 since Reagan's second term.

why would americans want to use big bills on big ticket purchases like plasma teevee's and loius vuitton purses when they could use PLASTIC and get 1% back on every $2,500 they spend...they don't even have to pay for it all up front

what a deal :oo-->
