I learned today that you can use automatic transmission fluid to remove tar from your hands.

So I got to thinking... we can dump lots of automatic transmission fluid on the beaches and into the Gulf. It's gotta be cheaper than that Corexit stuff BP is using.

Here's a solution I heard at the Appleseed event. One of the instructors said "I can tell them how to close up that hole, almost instantly." He continued . . . "Put a giant wedding band on it."

Tranny fluid is a 10w or less ,refined engine oil base, it would kill more animals and plants than the crude or tar. whats cleaning your hands of tar is the very potent detergents that are in ATF. They are there to keep your transmission, which is simply a hydraulic pump/motor unit free of gum and sludge and to keep those particles suspended until they can be filtered out. good thinking though!

WD-40 or gasoline would be my preferred method. Toluene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toluene) is some nasty stuff, but it may do the trick. Have soap and water @ the ready.

If you were tarring something (politicians?) or doing some demo, just use gloves @ the beginning and no worries afterward.

Maybe you should all collect up a bag of that goop and send it to your congress critter. To their home preferably or the office they actually show up at. So they can see and smell first hand what is going on.
