Just drove the main streets - very little damage - the banks and businesses around 20th got the worst - a few windows broken. Most businesses in downtown are closed.

The police and street maintenance staff are mostly gone, the debris and broken glass removed and the graffiti presure washed away.

So you started a second thread called "Oaktown Burnin' Down" to say no fires, but watch for some broken glass? ::)

Par for the course for so many threads here these days.

Yeah - the only fires were a couple of dumpsters in the middle of a 6 lane road - had really expected a better show.

Hilarious, that video. I loved the black lady yelling back at the machine, "how am I supposed to feed my kids now?" Oh God, and not a single white person to be seen, they were all blacker than a thousand midnights.

Yeah...that quote jumped out at me too. Notice that all of them are driving new SUVs? Affirmative Action really paid off and they now have no self-interest in burnin' down their 'hood because some black punk got killed by the BART police officer in Oakland.

:D

The cop who shot the un-armed young man still faces sentencing, which is 5 to 14 years.

he could well end up in the 10 to 14 years category. that's one of the bigger sentences for an out-of-control cop/ police brutality case that i've heard.

once again, it shows the power of video.
