JUST KIDDING. ;D
I find it interesting how the hippies from the 60's and 70's were so out of fricken touch with reality.

One morning I woke up and I knew
You were really gone
A new day, a new way, and new eyes
To see the dawn.
Go your way, I'll go mine and
Carry on
The sky is clearing and the night
Has cried enough
The sun, he come, the world
to soften up
Rejoice, rejoice, we have no choice but
To carry on
The fortunes of fables are able
To sing the song
Now witness the quickness with which
We get along
To sing the blues you've got to live the dues and
Carry on
Carry on
Love is coming
Love is coming to us all
Where are you going now my love?
Where will you be tomorrow?
Will you bring me happiness?
Will you bring me sorrow?
Oh, the questions of a thousand dreams
What you do and what you see
Lover can you talk to me?
Girl when I was on my own
Chasing you down
What was it made you run?
Trying your best just to get around.
The questions of a thousand dreams
What you do and what you see
Lover can you talk to me?

i think they've been replaced by a younger generation who is even more out of touch with reality.
during a community garden work party i had a local tell me about his plan for saving the world by addressing water shortages. he was going to use solar energy to melt desert send to create glass aqueducts to transport all the water.
he also cautioned me about "stealing his idea" because he had his intellectual property thoroughly documented.
his lack of knowledge about thermosciences was stunning.
last i heard, he was looking for a financial backer.

They haven't disappeared, they just don't get any news coverage. They are wandering around out West. Living on National Parks and BLM land. Migrating like the indians. A couple years ago they got some news because they got raided by some forest ranger types who were angry about being rejected by the BATF. Beat up a whole bunch of women, the women run the show and intercepted the incoming thugs.

Had to think a bit, was able to find them. They have their own website somewhere too. I pasted a small portion of the article. You can get more articles with a search of rainbow hippie or rainbow family gathering.
‘Rainbow’ Hippies Attack Forest Service (http://sweetness-light.com/archive/arrest-leads-to-rainbow-riot)
Saturday, July 5, 2008
U.S. Forest Service officers pointed weapons at children and fired rubber bullets and pepper spray balls at Rainbow Family members while making arrests Thursday evening, according to witnesses.
"They were so violent, like dogs," Robert Parker told reporter Deborah Stevens of the libertarian-oriented, Round Rock, Texas-based We the People Radio Network [www.wtprn.com] after the incident.
"People yelled at them, ‘You’re shooting children,’" Parker said during an interview on the network’s "Rule of Law Show."
About 7,000 people have arrived at the gathering near Big Sandy in the Wind River Mountains for the annual Gathering of the Tribes, a seven-day event of fellowship, partying including illicit drug use, praying, and living on the land.
They camp on Forest Service land around the country every year, but the Rainbow family’s nonhierarchical methods — no one can speak for the Rainbows, much less sign a land use permit — often have stymied their relationships.

From wiki:
All major Gatherings in the United States are held on National Forest land, which is under the jurisdiction of the United States Forest Service, a federal agency. The Forest Service has often tried to prevent these gatherings from taking place or insisted that a group-use permit be signed, contending that this is standard practice for large groups wishing to camp on public land and that it is necessary to protect public safety and the local environment. Gathering organizers generally contend that the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights give them the right to peaceably assemble on public land and that requiring a permit would violate that basic right by turning it into a privilege to be regulated. (The Gatherings did attempt to initially work within the permit system starting in 1976, but found the government-imposed requirements for facilities and insurance too onerous.)
In 1984, the Forest Service enacted a regulation requiring a permit for any expressive assembly of ten or more people on Forest Service lands. This was unenforced for a year and a half before the Service attempted to apply it to the gathering in Arizona in 1986. Judge Bilby called attention to the selective enforcement of the regulation, and in any case ruled it unconstitutional, in part because it required expressive assemblies, but not non-expressive ones, to obtain permits.[24]

maybe.... But it was the barrage of Communist front organizations that infiltrated every facet of American life....that gave birth to the 'hippy' movement.

(also, regarding hippy politics: many hippies were/are "commune communists", in that, they believed in communism on a very local, voluntary level. Of course now a lot of former hippies are full-blown statist commies... >:( )

The late conspiracy theorist Mae Brussell claimed that the hippie movement was co-opted by a faction in the military intelligentsia.

"Charles Manson and the Crushing of the Counter Culture"
With researcher and broadcaster, Mae Brussell. Originally aired in October 1971 on her radio program, Dialogue: Assassination, this show reveals Manson as a patsy and analyzes the so-called Manson murders as a premeditated political massacre designed to destroy the social and political revolution taking place in the late '60s."

Depends upon what "reality" you're talking about.
Hippies, despite their smelly faults, were attuned to the fraud of the bankster & corporatist system long before any other major group.
I wish their naive, childish vision of "peace & love" was able to be made reality by human action. Certainly better than perpetual war and perpetual tyranny.

I know a lot of hippies and former hippies, and none of them have any interest in a far-away centralized government telling people what to do. Most actually listen to people, a trait that is not suited for statists. The "statist commie hippies" were never really hippies, but just Communist agitators trying to radicalize people toward specific goals. Granted, there are a whole shitload of those...

I find it interesting how the hippies from the 60's and 70's were so out of fricken touch with reality.
Their main complaint was that they had gone through all the training provided by the establishment and had never learned anything that agreed with reality. This was usually expressed as "all the crap I learned in high school."

The power of love is a curious thing
Make a one man weep, make another man sing
Change a hawk to a little white dove
More than a feeling thats the power of love
Tougher than diamonds, rich like cream
Stronger and harder than a bad girls dream
Make a bad one good make a wrong one right
Power of love that keeps you home at night
You dont need money, dont take fame
Don't need no credit card to ride this train
Its strong and its sudden and its cruel sometimes
But it might just save your life
Thats the power of love
Thats the power of love
First time you feel it, it might make you sad
Next time you feel it it might make you mad
But youll be glad baby when youve found
Thats the power makes the world go round
And it dont take money, dont take fame
Dont need no credit card to ride this train
Its strong and its sudden it can be cruel sometimes
But it might just save your life
They say that all in love is fair
Yeah, but you dont care
But you know what to do
When it gets hold of you
And with a little help from above
You feel the power of love
You feel the power of love
Can you feel it ? ....Hmmm
It dont take money and it dont take fame
Dont need no credit card to ride this train
Tougher than diamonds and stronger than steel
You wont feel nothin till you feel
You feel the power, that's the power of love
Thats the power, thats the power of love
You feel the power of love
You feel the power of love
Feel the power of love
