Well, the first of the month the price for power is going up by 14.7%..........the why of this I don't know because the price of oil is going down......this week .04 cents, how about in your area?
Went today the my favorite store "The Senior Thrift Store".........and you know what? no parking space on the lot or on the street and is not even Saturday.

I had a couple of increases in the electricity rate where I live in the last year. I am sure that there will be more rate hikes in the near future. My only solution was to cut my energy consumption and that has worked for me. Despite those rate hikes, my electricity bill is lower now than it was a year ago around this time of the year because I cut way back on my electricity consumption.

Mine is lower than last year, same month and has been for the past several months....but we made some changes. More insulation, different light bulbs, trying to encourage the kids to turn off lights, etc. We have an electric co-op and it's a lot cheaper than what some of the larger companies charge.

Im on a time of use charge with my electric company, which means reduced rates from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am, run the AC all night and with a well insulated house is it rarely needed during the day. My energy bills are quite manageable....right now.

Everything has to go up all the time(INFLATION)because they print so much cash.
The only things not going up are wages and pensions, books are diddled on those ones so after decades of this we now face living costs that are more then most can handle.

Rate hike just approved for Northwestern Energy in Montana. I don't remember the amount, but it wasn't small.

That sounds like the way to go. Im gonna have to check an see if my power company offers that.
Our biggest power cost is the well pump when we do a lot of watering :-\
I could water at nite.
We have what they call a "smart meter" and we can see online how much we use each day...down to each hour. Pretty cool.

Uncle Sam and O'bam bam and the CIA and the FBI and the local PD can also see your electric usage right down to the time of day. How cool is that?

I'm curious to know what entities are serving y'all.
Mine is a public utility, run by my city. Power rates are stable.
"Investor-owned" utilities typically have unstable power rates since, well, you, the customer, don't matter. PG&E (aka Profits Going Elsewhere) is notorious here in California for being a rip-off on electricity. In my area, power can be 50% higher across the street, where one side of the street has public power, and the other side, "investor-owned" PG&E.
But we all know that "free market capitalism" in the form of such "investor-owned" corporations is "always better." ::)

My power bill is about $30 a month... I believe at least $10 of that is fixed delivery charges. So if I cut down to nearly nothing I'd save $20 a month. I have a fridge, lights, a laptop, and occasional use of the stove, microwave, power tools, and dryer. I make no effort to save power yet still people I know manage to spend $150 a month with essentially the same setup (typical house, gas water heater, electric stove), I don't even know how they do it. I got up to $50 one month when I redoing the basement ceiling for a two weeks and had two 250 watt halogens going all day and the air-conditioner on 'cause the halogens were making it too hot to work. Also had the miter saw, a fan, and air compressor going a ton for that period.
It doesn't seem like a big deal either way... who can complain they have to pay $20 more for power a month when they're paying $200 for their frigging digital cable? I know people that spend $25 a month on extras for their phone (call display, "line protection", etc).

I would love to...and Plan to..when I can afford it
A couple years ago I almost went solar but they wanted to connect me to the grid in order to collect the rebates they were offering. I almost did it...Figured I could add my own Battery bank.
I bought a stupid brand new truck instead :(My old truck had 220k)
I'm kicking my self now though.
If silver ever gets back to 20....I just might trade some for solar panels
