I've set a very high fitness goal for myself, to join the 1000 lb club. That's the total weight of 3 lifts, the benchpress, the deadlift, and the squat. I am only at 750 right now, I figure I've got to gain about 20 lbs of body weight and muscle mass to accomplish this.

Anyway, I stumbled upon this video researching ways to improve my deadlift form.

I thought it was worth sharing, because I had a "wow" moment realizing I was doing this lift, not improperly, but less efficient.

For anyone who deadlifts this video is a must watch.

Today will be day 2 of "project 1000", leg day. Squat, squat, and more squats. Weights are the most constant in life, they don't lie, it's about numbers alone. You against them, digging deep into the warrior spirit hidden in our daily lives. Leg day, is effectively pain day. The word for today, is overcome..

Here's another video that's fantastic regarding form on the squat.

Pain. I'm going to be walking funny for the next couple of days.

This squat video was very helpful, I think I've perfected my form. Ass the grass squats, if I go much lower the bar will hit the rack. I tweaked my stance just a little, to make sure my thighs were parallel with my feet.

Started light with the bar, then 135, 185, 225, 245, 265. I topped out at 265 for 2 reps, 2 sets. Was tempted to go for more, but overall, very satisfied and I'm excited for the day I put 3 plates on that bar. I think my squat numbers are going to shoot up quick, thanks Mr. Ripptoe's advise.

Target goal for the 1000lb club, 355 on the squat.

I also maxed out at 765 lbs on the leg press, for 4 reps. That's pretty good for me.

I got 320 pounds up last week on my deadlift. 33# increase from the last one.

When you get the right form down it makes a big difference.

Rippetoe is the man.

That's awesome! I'm hoping I can have gains like that.

I'm anxiously waiting to try Rippetoe's advise for the deadlift, his advise really helped my squat. I know I haven't been paying much attention to my foot placement on the deadlift. If I could get close to 300 to start I'd be a very happy.

When lifting heavy on the deadlift people tend to start pulling with the back. You gotta remember to use the legs. Thats what helped me make that last gain.

Plus my coach yelling "Pick up the F'n weight" helped a bit too.

Great tip, thanks. I am definitely guilty of this, and according to Ripptoe, I've been keeping the bar too far away. That first video of his really helped. What I like about it, is once you lock in good form it should come natural.

Following his advise with the squat, I just widened my stance slightly, pointed my tows out just a little..and it made the world of difference. The squat felt so much more natural that way. I'm hoping these adjustments on my deadlift will click naturally as well.

This video of Ronnie Coleman is one awesome deadlift, imo. Perfect form.
