Jeez, this is giving me some hope.

America is becoming anti-Free Markets so fast.

Lungren deserves the Nobel Peace Prize if he can get this passed.

the IRS is mega-stupid to set themselves in opposition to a few million small business owners. mega-stupid. for $17 Billion.

become that intrusive for that small of a return, and ignore the big huge low-hanging fruit like public-financed bank bonuses, miss opportunities like seizing a few $Trillion from the banksters that created the credit crisis.

it's like they're trying to drive small businesses out of the US.

i don't believe in some of the Supply-Side economics bullshit but i think it's pretty obvious, you put a big tax burden on people, they pack up shop and leave town.

especially in the coin dealer business. why would any coin dealer put up with this ? if they're sitting on a few hundred ounces of gold and 5 to 10 thousand ounces of silver - i think it would be tempting to say "screw the paperwork, i'm going to Bermuda". ;D

i bet this law, if it is not repealed, results in the closure of about 25% of American coin dealers.

I agree this will be bad if this doesn't pass. I wish that list of co-sponsors would also show party affiliation. I randomly clicked on names and so far haven't seen one democrat yet.

I actually found a democrat on there (Rep Tsongas, Niki), She is the newest one to co-sponsor this. The total is now at 124.

how many do they need ?

the House is 435, so they need 218 votes, something like that ?

It's up to 129 now. These are just the co-sponsors. I believe when it actually goes to a vote there would be a higher number. With this much steam I don't see how the comittee won't pass this and let it go for a house vote.

I have seen a few democrats co-sponsor this. Of course we will need there support plus Obama has to be on board too.

Last week I emailed my congressman, he (or his staff) responded within an hour to say he was proudly co-sponsoring HR 5141. I am encouraging everyone to do the same. The sticking point may be getting Obummer to sign it if it passes.

i imagine it will help if the "Democrats" lose the House & Senate on November 2, 2010.
