Almost bought a little this morning, then had a thought to check the futures/options expiry date, which happens to be tomorrow.
Looking for the usual smash today,
nothing like a clearance sale on an already under-valued asset!

If I am itchin to buy, I always try and wait for the end of the month.
Seems to happen like clockwork, approx 2-3% down with no real news driving it.

is today "it", or is it just warming up for Wednesday ?

i thought the Big Pile of Options Expiry Day this month was July 28.

i admit to sometimes being calendar impaired ;D ... but i have figured out that July 28 is Wednesday.

"July 27 Comex August gold options expiry
July 27 Comex August copper options expiry
July 28 Comex August miNY gold futures last trading day
July 28 Comex July silver futures last trading day
July 28 Comex July copper futures last trading day
July 28 Comex August E-mini copper futures last trading day
July 28 Nymex July platinum futures last trading day
July 28 Nymex August Asian gold futures last trading day
July 28 Nymex August Asian platinum futures last trading day
July 28 Nymex August Asian palladium futures last trading day"

just taking out the gold stuff
July 27 Comex August gold options expiry
July 28 Comex August miNY gold futures last trading day
July 28 Nymex August Asian gold futures last trading day

what the heck is "Comex August miNY" ?

so will the market manipulators try to prop up the US $ again tomorrow (by depressing the price of gold) ?

i would expect them to try, but i don't entirely understand their methodology.

i notice gold fractionals are disappearing fast. Provident had some 10 peso .24 ouncers ... GONE !

when they get real cleared out it seems like all some places have left (for a killer price) are 1/4 ounce GAE's and British Sovereigns.

It seems the smash comes the day before, then flat for a week or so, then back up in stair-step fashion.
I don't follow it that closely to know for sure,
just my impression from watching for the past few years.

that is very very good to know.

they must coordinate their work with the Plunge Protection Team.

for example, if the stock market tanks tomorrow, it is logical that they would try to whittle away at the price.

if the stock market goes up tomorrow, it would be very odd for PM prices to fall.

it seems more cost-effective for the government to not have the PPT and the gold/silver market manipulators working on the same day, like they would be working at cross-purposes. if i was the devious bankster managing this, i would have the gold/silver market manipulators hammering prices down on the days when the PPT withdraws their support for equity markets.

but, maybe the gold/silver market manipulators make enough $$ from their activities that it's a moot point. they just manipulate the market, make $$ - a lot of it, from what Andrew Maguire said - and brag about it when they're drinking after work.

do they also manipulate Pt & Pd ? i suppose they probably do, but not as much ?

I nearly caught what appears to be the bottom at $1161.20,
I always wait for the 2% down before jumping in.
We got it, and price has been pretty stable since.

As usual, Jim Sinclair is being buffeted again by weak hands crying about a measly 2% drop.
His latest emails imply that the big shorts use these takedowns both to cover the short and go long.

EDIT - down we go again, I thought for once I would have an UP day after ordering
