Did you feel anything Ponce??

The United States Geological Survey recorded a earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 off the coast of Oregon at 9:12 a.m. Wednesday, about 80 miles west-northwest of Barview, Oregon, and 197 miles southwest of Portland, Oregon.

The earthquake was about 6.2 miles (10 km) deep, making it a relatively shallow earthquake.

Lise Harwin, communications director for the Oregon Trail Chapter of the Red Cross, said the initial impact of the earthquake seemed minor. She said her agency has not been contacted for assistance.

No tsunami warning has been issued.

I experienced a small tremor while visiting LA. But, here in NC we regularly get rather sharp and sudden quakes. They don't make the news unless there is a drastic increase in a small time period. Usually they sound and feel about like a car running full tilt into a brick wall without all the aftermath, just the impact. They are also similar to the sound and feeling of setting off demolition charges underground which I suspect most folks around here are not familiar with. One day, as in the past, there will be the "big one" and then the plates will continue to creak for a few more decades.

Ponce has the early warning kitty system. When his cats wig out, the bug out begins.
