Or so they would have us believe.

Only those with a heart of stone couldn't feel for this young Afghan woman, but where the hell did this notion that one country must 'police' (impose its 'values' on the rest of) the world (protecting others from themselves) come from anyway??

I were were to leave at first there would be some house cleaning and then there would be peace and we would have many more crazy people running around and joining the merc groups because they are the only ones hiring.........we are bringing soldiers back from Iraq who are being replaced by mercs.

Perhaps the Afghans and many enraged Muslims would be less inclined to despise us and seek vengeance through violence?

But still, we can still consider all the positive accomplishments in Afghanistan such as...well...

I thought the americans were there to keep opium production strong... more profit for TPTB...

"But in July 2000, more than a year before the United States knocked it out of power, the Taliban banned the crop and introduced the death penalty for opium crimes, leading to a sharp decline in production."

http://www.opioids.com/afghanistan/opium-economy.html

"Afghanistan is, as of March, 2008, the greatest illicit opium producer in the world, ahead of Burma (Myanmar) and the "Golden Triangle". Afghanistan is the main producer of opium in "Golden Crescent". Opium production in Afghanistan has been on the rise since the downfall of the Taliban in 2001"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opium_production_in_Afghanistan

'The Afghan opium trade has exploded since the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan, following a lull after the Taliban had imposed a crackdown. According to the U.N., the drug trade is now worth $65 billion. Afghanistan produces 92 per cent of the world’s opium, with the equivalent of at least 3,500 tonnes leaving the country each year.

This racket is secured by drug kingpins like the brother of disputed president Hamid Karzai. As a New York Times report revealed last month, Ahmed Wali Karzai, a Mafia-like figure who expanded his influence over the drug trade with the aid of U.S. efforts to eliminate his competitors, is on the CIA payroll.'

Time needs to do a side by side pictorial of Taliban civilian atrocities and American civilian atrocities.

American troops look at Afghans civilians as collateral damage and could give a shit about their welfare, and that goes especially for the neo-con aggressors that got us into this in the first place.

We need war trials and accountability for the neo-con leadership that started these atrocities...that would be the greatest justice we could do for them and us.

It's never "just that simple" but at the same time you have to ask some very serious questions.

The Dutch East India company got china addicted to opium, some of which came from Afghanistan.

-Did the dutch east india company ever formally disband? It is/was the most successful incorporation venture in the known history of the world. It if disbanded there should be a public record somewhere. Since there isn't one, it is therefore still around in some capacity.

-Do the decendants of those opium pushers have any connection to the company today?

-Does most of the world's heroin still come from afghanistan?

Is there any way the most powerful corporation of the last 500 years could still be in existance, and operating?

Someone is importing all that heroin. That someone has a real name and a real face. Wonder who it is?

Exactly. The Taliban eliminated all the poppy fields in Afghanistan before the 9-11 excuse to go in and kick them out. Today the harvest is a bumper crop thanks to USMC guards.

Absolutely. Something like that might help to begin restoring the soul of this country.
There is an enormous amount of cleansing to do.

Some lamppost dancing would be a good thing.
I hope and pray that it happens.

I thought the terrrists were going to follow us home like lost puppies and kill us? Oh right, that's the fear-motivated right-wing talking point.

This must be the guilt-motivated left-wing talking point.

I wouldn't expect the maddened apes err... the people to do this.
