You will now be returned to your regularly scheduled program. All crisis have been averted. While there are still a few or many problems still requiring our efforts and your sacrifices, rest assured that your deserved govt workers and financial string holders have everything under complete absolute control. You may be happy, and don't worry, we know exactly what we're doing.
Stock market is now back to melting up; gulf oil leak is getting fixed, economic clouds have started to turn brighter and less ominous, some wars are winding down for a while, and the usual election cycle seems as healthy a debate as ever - or at least that's the picture that everybody's been given.
Take two of these and call me after the vote. Matter of fact, things might even turn rosy for the next few years. So the masses are ready to accept the change in programming, what's not to like?
Well, I could tell you but why spoil the fun. Let's just wait a handful of years, that way they won't need to ask.

Do not pay too much attention to the long lines at the unemployment office. There is really nothing to see there at the unemployment office since all of them are just lazy bums that are just enjoying the Summertime.
Those wonderful Congress people in DC and our President did such a wonderful job of of passing the Healthcare reform bill that everybody will have excellent health insurance coverage and nobody will get turned down because of a pre-existing condition. Oh BTW do not pay attention to the $600+ = 1099 form law. There is really nothing to see there with the 1099 provision in the healthcare reform bill since most people do not have gold and silver and the few people who have gold and silver will probably have a boating accident anyway. It's all a wash. Also, do not worry about that mandatory health insurance provision in the bill because it is our patriotic duty to have health insurance.
Do not pay attention to the National Debt Clock. It just has a glitch in it that is causing the numbers to move too quickly. It is just a boring number. There is nothing to see there. Do not worry about the Federal Deficit. It's just another boring number that the bean counters are just drooling over since they have no life. In other words, the gov't has everything under control. Just move on.
Do not worry about the tax increases starting in 2011. We will cross that bridge when we get there. Just sit back and enjoy watching the economic green shoots travel rapidly across the U.S. economic sky. After watching the economic green shoots, just sit back and eat the junk food and continue to watch American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and all of the other wonderful reality TV programs that are currently available. If you need anything and I mean ANYTHING, then the U.S. gov't is here to help you.
Yep. Our future as a U.S. citizen is soooooo bright that we need to wear shades.

Three million people are no longer on unemployment because........they no longer get employment checks.
And remember folks.........if you work ONE HOUR A WEEK you are considered to be fully employed :conf:

Very good observation.
The price of marijuana is about to go into free fall. California is now on track to to legalize and regulate marijuana. Pay attention.
Social interaction (as well as pornography) has now become a free bonus when you sign up for an Internet connection. Get hooked up.
The cost of voting will always be the time you spent watching the debates. Pledge your time, your choice makes a difference.
Get fit, and fat.
What's not to like?
If you don't like the income tax, don't make income. If you don't like the registration fees or the gas tax, don't drive. If you don't like the sales tax, just don't buy anything. 2 billion people don't go off the grid overnight, the tax and spend society is very much alive and well - long live govt taxes and expenses. Nothing to be concerned about here. You can return to your place in line, and after you pay your funeral tax the world govts will still be kicking (you did list your dependents, correct?).

Dunno if you have read Dmitry Orlovs recent post but it goes along with many of the comments above as far as how it kinda looked as the old soviet union collapsed.
I however dont believe our so called leaders know how to fix the problems.
They look at things syntheticly when making decisions, using broad strokes of laws or cuts or moving money here or there,a game too late and more akin to whack a mole if you will imo.
That all being said they will try some drastic measures before they throw their hands up,sadly.

What problems? Did you or the worker bees have a problem? Didn't you get the memo that thing will turn around eventually? Some more tax money may be required, but the world is used to it. And in terms of fixing the problems, well, since when in history was that actually a requirement for the tax and spend society?
The tax and spend society is doing quite fine. Show me a time in modern history where the world was free of taxes? Can you? Problems will come and go, I don't believe the same can be said for the world model of tax and spend.

What they're dong is absolutely everything and anything they can possibly do to keep this debt based multi-generational ponzi-scheme afloat.
The alternative is unthinkable to them, for they see not doing it as taking a step off the edge and into the dark Abyss of financial ruin.
