YIKES!!!!!! WTF was that? This almost makes me feel ashamed that I live in Chattanooga.

Ouch.
I guess its no small consolation, however, that we should all be thankfull that the bombs bursting in the air proved that the stars were indeed still there.

It's hard to believe that was anything but intentional. Regardless of how amateur a performer is, who goes up to sing anything without first having practiced it, having sang it to friends, family members, etc.? You'd have to be either a complete and total idiot (IQ less than 70 or so), or this duty was sprang onto him at the last minute.
The looks on the other officers faces were priceless.
And . . . "Let us pray" . . . to erase that experience from our minds.
Whew.

Yeah K-os that is a good point. I watched that for a second time and I saw that. This had to be some sort of setup but without the rest of the CH-12 video, it is very hard to say for sure. I do not know what event went on in Chattanooga at that time.

On second thought . . .
I don't know if police stations have the same type of camaraderie as fire houses, but if they do, I could see this as a prank on the singing officer. They could have either told him last minute, or they told him that he sounded great in practice.

That is certainly possible. I noticed how it was edited and maybe they were laughing so hard that they had to edit that part out. Honestly, I do not know. I am just guessing.

If you notice at the beginning, he's reading the lyrics off of a piece of paper.
From what I read, one of his cop "buddies" made sure it had the wrong words on it. lol
All I know is, I sure don't envy the guy for having to get up there and at least try to "sing". {if it can be called that}

This TN cop's version is excellent, now my second favorite rendition of all time.
