You can "attach" images to the end of a post using the "additional options" menu at the lower-left corner of the post box when writing your message.

You can also hotlink in externally hosted images (or images in the GS-US picture gallery) using:

[ img ] and [ /img ] tags (without the spaces) and the image URL between the two tags.
