Guess it's confirmed huh? he's dead? I'm no climber,but wasn't/shouldn't he have been tied into someone?

from what i've read he died while fixing rope through the bottleneck. yes he still should have been tied into something. maybe he was on an existing fixed rope that came out. common practice, although scketchy at best. not sure all details.

Apparently conditions on K2 have been pretty attrocious. An old friend runs a climbing tour company into there and other places. They had their own teams on the hill the last few weeks. It sounds like it was a close call for them coming down the last few days. I don't think they had any involvement in Ericsson's climb but their blog gives a bit of an idea how tough the conditions are at the moment.
