i love swimming in the ocean when the waves are huge.

but i'm scared of sharks.

for a while i managed to reconcile the 2. then in April 2008 it became clear that the sharks are feeding near where i used to swim. (fatal great white attack). now i'm scared to go more than 50 yards from shore in that area of North County San Diego.

that photo of the Hawaii big wave looks like another session at Jaws/ Peahi. i.e. a conventional big wave from storm swell.
