Never heard of that method. Going to give it a try this weekend.

Even if the bagel doesn't make it enough of the Cabernet Sauvignon will make it OK.

I knwe there was a reason I felt empty and hollow inside. Bagels are a staple around here. But I make em myself, so maybe that balances it all out.

Homemade? Impressive!!

I think bagels kick ass as well. I like to toast them, then add cheese and a couple of eggs to make a hearty breakfast sandwich.

Maybe we should all go to church and pray for our sins of enjoying bagels. ;D

Had a bite of one once with the finest cream cheese and it was supposedly the best you could ever get, I thought it sucked. I'll take southern biscuits and gravy or a piece of toasted white bread with apple butter instead.

My bloodline must be totally impure ;D

Does anyone have any evidence that bagels were created by Jews? Like so much of Jewish "culture," it appears bagels are a rip-off from the Goyish hosts (in this case, Poles). Bagels and bagel-like breads are ubiquitous amongst the East Slavs.

And Jewish or not, I like me a good egg bagel. ;D

The best I ever had were made by the Byerly's grocery chain in Minnesota.

once when i was in the "bagels for breakfast" habit i stood in line behind Steve Jobs at the Palo Alto bagel place.

bagels are good but for us non-motivated bagel consumers, we need to have a bagel store to make big bagel cream cheese creations, like an onion bagel slathered with whipped cream cheese and some smoked salmon.

Bagels are carbs. Like any other carbohydrate, simply eat them (at the same time) with proper amounts of protein and good fats and you're good to go.

LOL hi EE

I threw it away because I wasn't sure if the three-second rule on picking food dropped from the floor applies when 120 coworkers are sitting behind you. It was dropped in the inside garden part of the store but I do not trust the floor to be clean. :)

Bagels baked fresh in stone fire oven bakeries are the best,
very tasty, hard to find though unless you are in some down
town of a city. Usually there are lineups. I only know of two
when I travel I always get bag full, and lunch, coffee, cream cheese,
smoked meat lunch sandwich, etc, yummy , don't forget the
chocolate milk too. Crispy too, the best, I take the overcooked ones.

I never eat the other bagels, some I heard are 1000 calories, lol .
You might as well be chewing raw dough. yuck .

Well I guess its time I shared my Bagel story.

Worked at Buns Master Bakery just out of high school was the weekend baker after a time, solo shift. To date my last ever 'favourite radio station' KYYX was still on the air in Seattle.

Dough and molding the buns and bread are done the day before, stored in the cooler and the baker comes in a midnight loads up the proofer and is able to start baking the risen bread by 2:30 or so when it has risen enough.

So one of the few things to do before 2:30 was make bagels, they are special, instead of proofing, one drops them in boiling water for a minute, they are then ready to bake.

Usually worked Sunday and Monday nights, but for one summer I was asked to work Friday and Saturday nights instead.
This was the same year I spent the most time hanging out at the local bar with many friends.

So come Friday and Saturday nights I'd be out at the bar, then leave early at midnight to start work. After the bar closed at 2:00 several friends would come to the bakery looking for snacks (and an afterparty of sorts).
The only thing I had fresh for them time after time was bagels, unless they wanted to wait a bit or come back later.

The catchphrase became: "[Just] Bagels. F**king bagels!"
