Grace Tucci of Lakeville with a 44-inch northern she caught on Rainy Lake.
"My mom, Amy, and I were fishing near Grandpa Andy's cabin on Rainy Lake with no luck due to bad weather," recalled Grace Tucci, 18, of Lakeville, after catching a 44-inch northern.
"We had no idea how to fish for walleyes, but we really wanted to catch one.
"I got a hit on my first cast using my tiger-striped spoon off the end of a reef. It fought so long my arms got tired, and I was really nervous.
"After 15 minutes, it finally came to the boat. When I saw it I freaked out, I was so scared.
"Mom tried over and over to net it, but it wouldn't fit in the net. After breaking through the net, we both lifted it into the boat.
"We took some quick pictures, measured and released it."
