GM is getting back to sucking money from investors again rather than the taxpayer.
Yet we need to invest money to a future with fewer cars.
_______
GM has already paid back the $6.7 billion in loans it received from the U.S. and Canadian governments, however, that amount is only a small portion of the almost $50 billion bailout GM received.
Of course autoguide is PR, but it also lies it seems. It is well over 50 billion not even including the investment of two Canadian governments and possibly the loan amount to go on top of it as well.

GM is now temporarily majority owned by the United States Treasury and, to a smaller extent, the Canada Development Investment Corporation and the government of Ontario, with the U.S. government investing a total of US$57.6 billion under the Troubled Asset Relief Program.

IIRC they have to raise 70 billion or so to pay back the Gummint for the shares they bought. Never happen, they UAW will end up the taxpayer shares and the whole thing will be up for another bailout in 3 years or less.
I laughed my ass off when they ran the commercials that they had paid back the govt. loans in full.
What a crock.
