TIP OF THE DAY: Hire The Skeptics -- They're More Valuable Than People Who Just Accept Conventional Wisdom


Today's tip comes from Cristobal Conde, President and CEO, SunGard:

I love it when people show healthy skepticism. I think the more an organization is diverse that way, the healthier it is, and better decisions will come out.

We have made more money by bucking conventional wisdom than by following it.

And I think that in an interview, I look for ways in which people demonstrate that they are thinking about things rather than just accepting conventional wisdom.

Less micro management is the key. Skeptical people are generally more intelligent, and make better decisions because they think more in the process.

At the end of the day skeptics do realize the value of being employed v.s. unemployed, and looking for work ;)

At the "end of the day", the "bottom line" is that the creative, skeptical, non "yes-man" is "reorganized". You either suck the dong or take it in the sphincter, fellow Ameridroid.

Doesn't matter what level you are at, the reality is the reality.

Saying Yes to Yes is the new survival tactic.
