Yea ! good deal, everyone should have at least one generator, and not a bad price.

I have never used Honeywell , just some Mitsubishi's and Honda's. for a little generator the Honda by far has been the best.

In my travels today I went to harbor freight, and they had some generators on display $ 599.00 for a 5500 but they were called Chicago, never heard of them, and couldn't spend anytime looking at them.

Is the Honda one from this range? http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/Images/Models/EU2000i_100x100.jpg

I have seen these in action and I was amazed at how quiet these run. I mean really quiet. It's hard to tell but I think you would be hard pressed to hear it beyond about 20 metres. I see they also make one in a woodland cammo. I wouldn't hesitate dropping the $$ on one of these if I had it. I'd prefer the 2Kv which down here sets you back just about $2K.

Glass,

Something like that only bigger I think 5500 or 6500 I will take some pic's in the am, one I have is fairly quite I think that one is the Honda, I think the other 2 are Mitsubishi's they are all red , so I have to look at the name on them. ;D The problem with them is the RMP's is too high, I think that is what they call it, they wear out pretty quick.

ok Zap. I never thought about the RPM's and wear and tear. I do think they bang away quite hard now you mention it. I've been a city slicker the last 20 years but you mentioning the RPM's reminds me of the old diesel generator we had. It was a behemouth but the revs were so low. We called it the ke-chunka. Pushed out some KVa but not that much by todays' standards. I want a gennie and would prefer a diesel but space is a thing.

Congrats on getting your generator. Now it's time to buy plenty of fuel cans, PRI-G, spare sparkplugs, thick wire extension cords,...

One very useful item I got about when I bought my generator is a Kill-a-watt meter. This allows you to see how many watts a certain item draws - very useful for balancing loads (110V only). You probably know, though, that a motor's starting draw is many times that of when it's running. This can be "exciting" if you're starting up an air conditioner, freezer, or even a circle saw.

Almost all gasoline gennys run around 3600 rpm,no matter what the output or size. some engines are just louder than others, the older flathead Briggs,Kohler and Tecumseh sounded like they were screaming, The newer OHV engines arent so loud, but still spin around 3600 rpm. There are yanmar clone diesel engines on generator out there and the quality is decent. They arent very big either.BTW the gas harbor freight engines are Honda clones made in China, by Lifan. They have almost perfect interchange with Hondas. and are very reliable, my kid used them on his mini bikes and they never broke.
