Ruhama Pearl (Rhoades) Hendrickson, 83, of Winchester, passed away on Friday, Aug. 13, 2010, at the St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.



Hamie was born on Oct. 22, 1926, in Glasgow, W.Va., to Harlan Rhoades and Luvenia "Jackie" (Hudnall) Metz. Hamie graduated from McKinley in 1944.

Hamie and Leon co-owned the Rainbow Restaurant with her parents from 1947-1967. They also owned and built two roller skating rinks. Hamie and Leon founded, owned and operated Silver Towne from 1948 to the present.

She was a very active member for 72 years at the Main Street Christian Church. Hamie was also a member of the Classy Old Broads Chapter of the Red Hats Society. She was also a member of the PNG, ANA, Central States, Indiana State, and numerous other numismatic organizations.

Survivors include her husband of 641/2 years, Leon Hendrickson; a son, David (Debbie) Hendrickson; two daughters, Kathy (Steve) Barker and Tanda (Tony) Abel; grandchildren, Andy Abel, Brock (Eva) Abel, Tyler (fiancée Allanna Cockerill) Abel, Ryan (Katie) Barker, Kevin (Shannon) Barker, Eric (Melanie) Barker, Carrie (Mike) Chipley, Chad (Jami) Allen and Cheyanne Allen; great-grandchildren, Paige, Payne and Parker Jane Abel, Ross, Brenna, Mason, Molly, Lexie, and Chloe Barker, Kaitlyn, Abby and Rachel Chipley, and Elijah, Noah and Alyssa Allen; a sister, Pat (Dr. Joseph) McManes; and a brother, Dick (Carolyn) Rhoades.

Hamie was preceded in death by her parents as well as two grandchildren, Corby Hendrickson and Jason Barker.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Main Street Christian Church in Winchester with Reverends Jim and Dixie Miller officiating. Entombment will follow at the Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester. Friends and family may call on Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, from 2-8 p.m. as well as an hour before the services all at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hendrickson Trust Fund for local Outreach at the Main Street Christian Church.
