Jerry Springer: President Obama's 'excellent'

By PATRICK GAVIN | 8/27/10 10:47 AM EDT Updated: 8/27/10 1:52 PM EDT

Jerry Springer knows plenty about arguments and fights: He's presided over the raucous and controversial "Jerry Springer Show" since 1991. And he knows a thing or two about politics, as well, having once served as the mayor of Cincinnati.

He took his experience in both areas to Sean Hannity's program Thursday night, and the two duked it out over Barack Obama's presidency.

"I think Barack Obama has done a good job as president," Springer said. "In fact, I'd say even better than good. Do I agree with every single thing he's done? No. Is America perfect yet? Of course not. ... I must admit he's turned out to be an excellent president."

Hannity, obviously, didn't agree, knocking Obama over health care reform and spending. But Springer held his ground.

"He didn't make popular moves — he made courageous moves," he said. "And the fact of the matter is people can go to the banks today and have some sense that their money is still there. ... Plus a lot of people have health insurance now that didn't have health insurance before, God bless that."

"You're living a Jerry Springer fantasy world," Hannity said.

"Well, it's a nice place to be. I welcome you to my world," Springer said.

Idiocracy the movie was a documentary. I'd be building a raft and GTFOOT before it's too late....ah I see the problem with that plan now.

If Jerry Springer says it, it must be true.

Sean Hannity is a lightweight, and this exchange proves it. It is almost as if he was chosen precisely because he was so dense. The healthcare doesn't start for several years, and Sean should have been able to call him on that fact, but SH is not smart enough to react quickly.

Why wouldn't he think Obama was great?

The country is turning into an episode of the JS show. Whether it's because of O or not, I don't know.

Yup, who wants to bet that Springer himself runs for president in the next election?

We are doomed.

That's all there ever has been. A feeling of "some sense" that the money's really there.
Gotta protect the illusion that enables the confidence game to continue.

I still remember my community college experience of walking to my next class past the 'common' area that had a tv and the blacks and wiggers were in there hooting and hollering over the latest Jerry Springer episode, which was at the height of its popularity at the time. So sad in so many ways. :'(
